bands playing corporate events

   What are your thoughts about bands playing concerts for company events?  I used to think it seemed a pretty "desperate" move.  But last year and this year my company has done this for our holiday party, and maybe I've changed my mind.  Last year we had Big Head Todd and the Monsters.  They are an area band, but I think somewhat known elsewhere.  This year it will be the B-52s.  I though BHT was very good, and I'm very much looking forward to the B-52s.  I was thinking about going to see the B-52s the following night at their regular performance anyway (before the company made their announcement), but now I get to see them for free!  Can't really beat that.
