I guess when I have a tortilla chip, I probably dip it so that around 30 to 40% (??) of the chip has hit salsa. I like a good part of the chip dry so I can grab it easily and to be courteous to others by not sticking my whole hand in the bowl of salsa. If it's a bigger chip that I wish to double-dip, I will break it in half.

At last a meaningful poll. I usually eat a handful of chips and drink the salsa out of the jar. I really like salsa.

I've never tried to quantify it. Kind of depends on how thick the salsa is. More salsa if thicker and less if runny.
Also depends on how good the salsa is. Edited by Slartibartfast - April 27 2011 at 19:36 |

I'm not a huge salsa fan either, usually. Maybe 10-20%?

Weak. I'd say 30% salsa, 70% chip. |

Are we talking about chunky salsa, watery salsa, mushy salsa, dry salsa? And are the chips in question deep fried, circular, triangular, scoops or flavored? Any and all of those variables change what the ideal ratio might be.

You always have to make things difficult don't you? Anyway I stand by my answer. And while we're at it what is the difference in salsa and picante sauce? Is it like "prog" and "progressive"?

If I take too much salsa for one chip, I'll make it a sandwich with another chip on top. Sometimes just another chip as a chaser.

I interpreted it as what percentage of the chip has salsa on it. I guess I was imagining a more watery salsa. If it's chunkier, I'll take fewer chunks. I also imagined triangular chips, though I often have bite-sized miniature ones. I usually don't dip flavored chips. Great topic. No wonder I spend more time in the off-topic area than the actual music sections these days.

As long as the salsa is HOT, does it matter?
