Question for anyone who wants to answer,

We are new to this site &  posted something that states "please check us out @ http://hsquaredmusic.com, thanks in advance" We just got a private message stating "stop spamming the site about your band or you will be banned"

Is something wrong with promoting our site?  We are looking for feedback from anyone who will take the time to check us out.  Please let us know what you think.  Thanks

Hmm. If you're prog or prog-related, you could post in the "unsigned bands" section

Rather than pepper the site with advertisements, it's best to visit the proper forum.  Otherwise, your advertisements have the opposite effect you wish to obtain: People won't like you and will consider you a nuisance (without even hearing your music!).

The proper thing to do would be making one thread either in the unsigned bands section (as HTCF suggested) or perhaps in the Get the Word Out Section.  If you have an album and feel it is progressive rock, you could make a thread in the "Suggest New Bands" category.

Better yet, you could set up your signature to advertise for your music, and then get to know the great people here! You engage with interesting folks, and they get to know you a bit, and they see your ad in your signature and are more willing to check you out.

But posting the same message in a bunch of unrelated threads isn't the way to go about it.

I responded to your request for feedback. I wasn't aware that the site had been peppered with adverts for your music. Must have missed that.

I'll repeat what I originally posted. I thought your music sounded pretty good, but I find it hard to be objective about hip hop as I'm not an expert on its nuances. Can I repeat my original question; what prompted you to seek feedback from folks on a prog rock forum?? I'm not in any way suggesting your music isn't welcome here. Quite the opposite, in fact. The whole approach to progessive music requires the artist and listener to be receptive to different types of music.
Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

Re the original post: By the way, its also against site rules to post the contents of a private message, I'll let that one slide. Anyway, thanks for stopping the constant posts about your band.
A lot of us on here are in bands, if we posted about them constantly this site would cease to function as a musical archives.

Yes yes i remember there used to be a TV commercial of Metallica's live concert, it was on TV ALL the time, and it was always playing the song "Fade to Black". Now I'm sick of the song.
