Frank Darabont is amazing. I love The Green Mile, but The Shawshank Redemption is the greatest film ever made.

Life Of Brian is in a close second for me, The Green Mile and The Shawshank Redemption are also fantastic. I'm usually a sucker for comedy, and I've been watching Wayne's World and Life Of Brian since I was about 10 or 11

This comment nailed it. Shawshank is also in my top 10 films of all time, because let's face it, it is possibly the best film ever created. It's where my vote goes, no question.

Good choice. First time I watched it, I was so gutted at the end 'cause I wasn't expecting for the hippies to get shot to hell by nutters...

The Fifth Element for me. I love anything which mixes sci-fi with humor
and such, plus it's got an interesting soundtrack and Milla Jovovich with orange hair.

It's obvious my tastes are quite different than yours.. with exceptions.
The Fifth element - Decent, overrated, but decent definitely Wayne's World - Would never be in a 10000 best films list The green mile - very good film. The Shawshank Redemption - A masterpiece. The best on this list and one of the best of all time. Yellow Submarine - music kills it Easy Rider - Great film. iconic in a way. Borat - Quite overrated for my taste. I don't like Cohen's humor... or him... Blazing Saddles - An atrocity. Worst film ever by Mel Brooks (who I used to like but now I realize he only has two and a half good movies.... ) Awful.

Andy, Andy and Andy ! Shawshank is the top movie here.

Could someone explain what's so special about The Shawshank Redemption? It's an enjoyable movie with an interesting story and great acting, but what is it that makes it the greatest film (or one of the greatest films) of all time?

Sleuth? i love Sleuth but, which one do you mean? I believe there was a recent one with Mr Caine in it too? But I haven't seen that one. Blazing Saddles and Fifth Element are 'enjoyable romps' . I really didn't get Easy Rider.
But Life of Brian is on this list so it has to be my favourite comedy ever - But remember everyone - He's not the messiah he's a very naughty boy!

I guess I'm kind of an elitist when it comes to movies . I was going to say something like "Where the hell is Magnolia?? Run Lola Run?? Reservoir Dogs?? Se7en??", but instead of being a douche I'll just look on the bright side of life and vote Life Of Brian. Although for Python affairs I prefer Holy Grail

1. Blazing Saddles
2. Life of Brian
3. The Shawshank Redemption
4. The Green Mile
5. The Fifth Element
6. Borat
7. Wayne's World 2
the rest I've either yet to see or, in the case of Yellow Submarine, have no interest in seeing
