Anyone else heard The Myths & Legends of Merton Womble and his Journey To The Centre of the Earth - a great parody on Mr. Wakeman's solo epics complete with mazy moog runs and full blown pomp & circumstance from maestro Batt.

Even cooler is Hall of the Mountain Womble, a dynamite version of Grieg's riff-rocker (as good as ELO's version IMO) with added bathos when The Wombling Song tune is casually thrown in towards the climax!

Underground Overture is very cool too.

Am I on the wrong site?....They sound great to me.

Remember you're a Womble...Wink

Mike Batt is a very clever and talented musician who rather liked earning a living from music regardless of the seemingly ridiculous lengths he had to go to do it...

.., and Minueto Alegreco was okay too.
What?

Dunno about those Wombles recordings, but Mike Batt's Tarot Suite is one treasured album in my collection.

I recently tracked out down a copy of Superwombling and I have to agree, Myths and Legends is a great song. But it isn't my favourite. That has to be the Empty Tidy Bag Blues.
