Topic: Which do you despise the most? Posted: March 03 2009 at 00:39 |
I may have forgotten a few , please include in other. So what do proggers find the hardest to swallow?
I mean "country " just kills me everytime, I cannot stand the wimpy vocals, the gruesome drumming (yuck) the pedestrian bass and the whole darn' tootin' thang! I mean Dolly Parton I can at least look at , as well as Faith Hill (hunka hunka) er.......oopsy! But I cringe when I land on a country channel, the drawlin' drivel just gets me heading out the door , on my horse and into the wild blue yonder with a yearnin' for Siberian Khathru, at the very least. Like chili and BBQ , though ! and them there Texas cheerleaders are awfully cute!

From the list, dance. I also despise a lot of world music, country, rap and pop, but at least country gave us some pretty amazing guitar players, at least there is cool 'pop' out there like some of the indie stuff, the 80s gave us great hip hop, and there is a little bit of world music I like. IMHO of course.
Ohh yeah, and I pretty much love metal and punk so yeah, there is no 'despise' points towards them at all.
Oh and also, I'm not a progger. I find the term downright embarrassing and would rather not be called that. I just dig music yo.

^Heh, there is the 'other please specify option'. In which case, feel free to say prog sucks. Because a lot of it does IMO, heh.

Not only does it sucks but it blows too !
I got insulted so many times by being called a progger, it just makes me feel even more of an outcast. Vive la Resistance!

I was going to do this poll, but with specifics like post-grunge, pop-punk, synth-pop, smooth jazz, disco, etc. Just saying wide genres isn't very ueful, even though it's true people often think in those terms instead.

Disco only lasted a few years and not all of it was bad! Which is why I used the term "dance" . AFoS and Culture Club were New Wave acts , I believe !

Well... I tend to like a little bit of everything... Old R&B was good, but the new stuff is sh*t. There tends to be gems of every genre - For instance I don't like Electronica, but I love Daft Punk. I like some black metal and can tolerate the more intelligent, society-based rap music. Disco did suck though. I chose disco, even if Helloween did do a kick ass Abba cover

Can I ask you if you lived through those times as a young adult? Because if you did and were in a uncivilized place like NY, Montreal, Paris or LA , you may change your mind. I can tell you for a fact, there was some fantastic remixes made that played only in the clubs , never making it on the radio. Party music but some of the electronic stuff was really deep! But the Travolta stuff, yeah, yuck!

I just don't like the music. Simple. I'm not interested in these 'fantastic remixes' because I simply just don't like that kind of music.

Hey it's OK , you weren't even born yet when it was already "passe" , so I can comprehend your distaste for something you haven't witnessed. I checked your ID on your PA profile

The only genre I think I'm not able to ever enjoy a single second from,
is emo. Its not really genre, just mainsteam, hardcore/punk with an emo-tional attitude that makes my stomach turn.

Over land and under ashes
In the sunlight, see - it flashes
Find a fly and eat his eye
But don't believe in me
Don't believe in me
Don't believe in me

Traditional Inuit throat singing! All the kids in my school rave about this stuff, play it on their iPods, dress up like Inuits and hang fishing equipment on their neck. I thought the rap thing was disgusting, but this . . .

Dance, as long as that incorporates Techno and Electronica. What a pointless waste of noise.
