Hi there!

My name is Siddhartha Barnhoorn, I'm a filmcomposer from The Netherlands. I love this website and the forum! I'm a big progrock/metal fan. I'm a guitarist (multi-instrumentalist) myself and am also working on my own album projects, aside from film projects. There are a few rockpiece of mine on my site:

Put some new tracks on my site, along with Starman and Convergence, which are two progrock/metal tracks, one of which (probably Starman) will feature on my solo album.

I listened to Starman - nice synth sounds - is that a Virus?

It's a bit repetitive for my tastes, and the drums sound a bit clinical - I presume they're loops.

Then listened to Convergance - I think this needs beefing up a bit, as there seems to be little, if any bass. Again, too repetitive for me, but a very tight piece. I like how the beat shifts around - I guess that's the "Convergence" you refer to in the title, but again, I find the drum sound very clinical. The lead guitar stays a bit too long in the single-note domain for interest - and the shredding over the quieter section doesn't provide the "right" sort of contrast for me - I'd have liked some shredding earlier, and again, where the rhythm intensifies, but not so much in the quieter section.

The heavy riffs lack depth - I think you've taken too much bass out of your rhythm sound. I can hear what you're getting at, but the piece doesn't fully deliver for me, and most of that is down to arrangement, production, and a tendency to dwell too long in certain domains - I guess it depends on the film, of course.

Anyway, hope these comments are helpful.

The important thing is not to stop questioning.
