1946, up-and-coming semi-pro bowler Robert Moog's life is forever changed when he breaks a wrist and four bones in his right hand in a horrific Scrabble tournament incident ... he is attacked by his opponent after scoring a devastating 45 points on the word "oscillator" and is forced to physically defend himself, resulting in the injuries ... in an effort to alleviate Moog's depression over his inability to grip a bowling ball, his father purchases a Heathkit Electronics Learning Lab...

Thought you'd like to know

I've never heard of anybody assualting another because of Scrabble. I mean, sure, I get pissed off when I lose, but not to that extent. I get REALLY pissed when I lose at Monopoly and Risk. But thanks to that attacker we have great sounds in our music.

It is a little known fact that Robert Moog's opponent that day in 1946 was a 65 year old Keith Emerson, already in a foul mood after losing at bridge (again) to Laurens Hammond.

He never forgave either of them....

I've never been a fan of Monotony, but if you want a damned good thrashing at Risk, then I'm probably not the man to do it!

Moog then went on to invent the Theremin and the Mellotron. Louis Theremin was so upset, he went round to Moog's house and punched Moog's lights out and stole the blueprints before Moog had finished his original synthesiser - which explains all the loose wires. Fortunately Alfred Mellotron (83) of 86 Hazlemere Drive, Edgbaston didn't hear about this - for one thing, he was profoundly deaf.

Louis Theremin, of course, invented prog rock immediately by way of retalliation, together with his friends Bob Hammond, John Leslie and the Beach Boys.

They all got low scores in Scrabble.

I must be wasted because:
"breaks a wrist and four bones in his right hand in a
horrific Scrabble tournament incident ... he is attacked
by his opponent after scoring a devastating 45 points on
the word "oscillator"
.. try and make a ten letter word playing scrabble. Also,
you get fifty points for using all seven letters...
It's official...I have no life
