I am utterly devastated about this announcement....admittedly, I was only going on the Friday night, but this is a hammer blow for the future of Progressive & Power Metal as a force within the UK...here is Jon Hoare's announcement in full... PROGPOWER
This is the hardest decision we have ever had to make, but it is with great regret that we have had to cancel ProgPower We have made no secret of the financial difficulties that have dogged our first two years, which is why we made a significant number of changes for year three. However, ticket sales have been extremely poor and, as a result, there is no way we can stage the festival without losing a substantial amount of money again. This decision has not been taken lightly and we are fully aware of both the disappointment and inconvenience it will cause. However, we simply cannot afford to keep pumping money into ProgPower As a result of this, ProgPower UK LLP will cease trading with immediate effect. Ticket holders who purchased tickets via cheque or Paypal through the ProgPowerUK website will be refunded by the method through which the tickets were purchased. This will be done within twenty-eight days. If you purchased tickets at Bristol Ticket Shop, please contact them directly for a refund. Please direct any enquiries to [email protected] All enquiries will be dealt with, but please be patient. We would like to sincerely thank everyone who has supported us over the past three years, and also thank Rene Janssen and his team for giving us the opportunity to make ProgPower The ProgPower 16th Feb 2008 |

I know, Im so gutted becuse they put everything into that. I had a ticket for both days and was really looking forwrd to all of it but especially DSO and Circus Maximus. I feel sorry for CM and Power Quest atm because twice CM's UK debut has been cancelled and now everything PQ does seems to get cancelled!
But there is some good news on band fronts: I emailled Circus Maximus and DSO about the cancellation and what they plan to do, will they do UK tours, Iv not heard back from CM but Daniel from DSO mailled me back an he said they are planning to fix up a date in London on the 28th but its not confirmed yet, but still there is hope.
I will forever thank PPUK for helping me find possibly 2 of my now fav bands ever: Pagan's Mind an Orphaned Land.
John and everyone involved, thank you so so much for at least trying your best, its all we could asked for and think that at least you have helped build prog and power metal's stature in the UK and in a country that, in general bar us fans, I dont think is ready for it yet.
Peace and Love

Fanongo, do you know if Jon and co have printed the PPUK 3 t-shirts coz I would more than happily buy 1 to help Jon and the gang out. Plus its the least I can do not only for them but also I once again have lost a chance to pick up a Circus Maximus t-shirt. Your not going to France to watch them support Symphony X are you by any chance? |
