Exciting news from Rushisaband Weblog
Alex Lifeson recently called in to Jeff Burrow's (The Tea Party) radio show on Canadian radio station and had some very cool news regarding the new album and the tour. I didn't hear the interview but saw the highlights posted on the various messageboards. Alex mentioned that the new album is set for a late April or early May release - but we already knew that. And ... he said that a lot of the studio work was video taped for a DVD! As far as the tour goes, it's currently scheduled to start in June and will include North America and Europe with a break for Christmas then onto South America. So this would seem to be the first official confirmation from a band member that they will tour and,as mentioned in a previous thread, they will hit South America again. also, it is reported that the title of the new album will be: "Snakes and Arrows" |

re the title;
http://www.innertraditions.com/Product.jmdx?action=displayDetail&id=2238&searchString=1-59477-178-2&displayZoom=1 Its an alternative name for Snakes and Ladders or Chutes and Ladders as it is also sometimes known as in the US. From PowerWindows Rush site: "Interviews with Neil Peart have stated that religion in America will be the primary lyrical topic. This explaination of "Snakes and Arrows" sheds a bit of light on the revelance of such a title: "Chutes and Ladders, the popular children’s game, is derived from the ancient Hindu game Leela, or Snakes and Arrows, which charts the ups and downs of the soul’s path toward reunion with the Infinite. Snakes and Arrows was designed by the seers and saints of India as a tool for understanding the relationship of the individual self to the Absolute Self. For thousands of years the 72 spaces on this game board have enabled players to chart the paths that represent the course of their lives. Each space represents a virtue or a vice, an aspect of consciousness, or a plane of reality and is accompanied by a commentary explaining its meaning. The player’s progress on the board is dictated by the fall of a die corresponding to the forces of karma. Repeated encounters with the snakes and arrows on the board reveal the full meaning of the commentaries and can give shape to habitual patterns of the player, resulting in greater self-understanding and even a gradual detachment from the ego’s delusions." so now you know. Thanks to Ed at Rushisaband and Eric at Power Windows. Edited by Tony R - January 15 2007 at 13:13 |

You looking over my shoulder SD? It is a nice take. on one of favourite Neil Peart themes...chance.. The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune - Hamlet Snakes and Ladders (Arrows), a game of chance in which you can go up the ladder to the top or slide down the slippery slope of the snake purely on the roll of a dice, a theme from Roll The Bones. I got my partners-in-rush together already. Last two times we ended up with part of our group being involved in car accidents (in 92 after the Rotterdam concert, in 2004 before the Rotterdam concert). We already have our fingers crossed for a third-time-right event over there. After all, snakes and ladders is a game with dice, so according to statistics we have a good chance to succeed in all of us having a good time. Edited by Angelo - January 15 2007 at 16:27 |

Finally we have a title and a tentative release date.
Snakes and Arrows is certainly an interesting title. After all we have heard, I certainly have high expectations for this one. |

Europe can mean anything from Finland to Greece... In any case, after having embarked on two intercontinental trips in as many months, I feel that even going to London or Paris to see the legendary trio wouldn't be too much of an effort! Hopefully they'll come to Italy as they did on their R30 tour - though I'm sorry to say that ticket sales weren't that great (there were still tickets available on the day of the gig, though the venue was rather crowded), so I wouldn't be surprised if they skipped my fair country for some other place where they are more appreciated.
Of course there's always the North American option... It would be great to drag my beloved AR partner to see the band he so loves to sl*g off when I'm not looking! |

I can't help wishing that it'd be called Snakes and Ladders which to me is marginally better.
How about Paths to Enlightenment? |
