PRIMUS vocals = Mr. Skull???

¿So, how about it?... while I really enjoy some of Primus albums, I can't help to notice the similarity between the way Les Claypol "sing" and the Voice that Mr. Skull uses to perform (when he's not shouting or Cookie monstering - one of my few examples in wich growling seems ok as resource). More than similarity; I really think Claypol is stealing something, wich is good enough to remove some stars from Primus. ¿Thoughts, Tears...?

The one with the Skull mask on The Residents... sometimes, he also uses the Eyeball mask, so I guess it is confuse... but let's say "The Residents Main Vocalist"...
    

I'm talking about vocals only; The Residents whole music style is another issue. And just when Mr. Skull is not shouting, but talking/singing.

Perhaps my basic english trainning is playing me... I'm trying to say "Les Claypol sings very much like Mr. Skull, except for those electronically distorted vocals that Mr. Skull uses sometimes."
    

In fact, it's not possible to Les Claypool to be the singer of The Residents.  Well, the voices on some album like Duck Stab, Commercial, etc, is very like the one of Claypool, but the "hic" is about the chronology.

But from the last 10 years, the singer voice look much more like the one of Tom Waits ( who work on Anti-Pop with Les).

Yes Claypool is very inspired by the ancient Residents Vocal, but I don't think he was the singer of the legendary Residents.

Everyone knows that Homer Flynn is the singer.

The similarities are conscious ones, I'm sure. I see it as tribute more than rip-off.

I think I have serious issues with my English... or perhaps with the logic behind the title of the thread... off course Les Claypol can't also be the singer of The Residents... he would be very very old if so... but the sound of the voice is almost an impersonation of Mr. Skull... I'm saying this after listening to a song wich I thought was Primus, but ended up being a Residents song from The Comercial Album...

You probably don't know that the Residents are most likely to have a changing lineup ...
