Topic: Favourite COLLAGE album Posted: March 09 2006 at 07:10 |
So, here's the deal for all Polish prog experts (or the closest thing). I own their "Living in the Moonlight" DVD and I found it really awesome. Watching the crowd singing that song along with the band's lead vocalist lead me to believe that, perhaps, Collage's legacy is well known among a big crowd of prog fans.
What is your favourite COLLAGE album?

Safe for me: it has very good songs.
I do like Heroes Cry from Moonshine a lot, but the album as a whole doesn't work out for me.

Moonshine, as it's the only one I own. But I find it so GREAT, that I
don't really believe any other could do better for me. I also know
Baśnie from Baśnie, but, although it's also really nice, it hasn't that
power and melody. And I really like robert amirian as vocalist. It's
really a pitty the band doesn't exist any more :(. But to those
interested, I should point you to bands and projects like Sattelite,
Believe and Mr. Gil, which are solo (except of Believe, which is as far
as I know a true band featuring Mirekk Gil) of Collage old members
(Settelite - Wojtek Szadkowski and Mr. Gil - Mirek Gil of course).
Besides, I really think it's a pitty that the band are more known
outside Poland than inside. Maybe if it weren't so they wouldn't break
up so easily :(...

Basnie is definitely the best. They should've stuck to vocals in Polish and not give in commercial appeals...

Many years ago I was a member of French progrock magazine Harmonie, this to improve my school-French. One day I read a very positive review about a new progrock band from Poland with vocals in their native language. It costed me a hell of money to order it but eventually I got it and was delighted about the music, such a beautiful, emotional and pure symphonic rock. I won't say it's their best effort but until now Basnie (Polish for 'fairytale') remains my favorite. And I agree with Cesar about the DVD, AWESOME!!

It is hard to choose put I picked Basnie. Collage is a great band, and so is Satellite.
