Hi, just to alert you of some bio errors for Pendragon.
It is stated in the current bio that the ban were
formed in London 1983 around keyboard player clive
Nolan.
In fact the band were formed in 1976, in Stroud, glos,
england, Clive Nolan not replacing Rik Carter on
keys until the mid '80's (Rik being a replacement for
John 'Barney' Barnfield, who co-authored some of
the classic tracks on the 1985 album the Jewel)

Here is the link to the official band bio page
[URL]www.pendragon.mu/uk/files/band_history.htm[/
URL]

I do appreciate that there is not space here for such
a huge bio, and that it will be edited in the style of the
archive, but I felt that these were fundemental errors!

Cheers!

Prog-Chick

Care to have a crack at rewriting the bio for the Archives, prog-chick? All help welcomed.

Actually, the 1978 band was a precursor called ZEUS PENDRAGON, and they only played covers of other groups' songs, so not sure that really counts.

I am happy to re-write the bio for you if you wish.
Drop me an e-mail/pm and let me know if there are
word count limits etc etc, and I will see what I can
knock up!

OK prog-chick. Here are the general guidelines for a bio from the Archive guidelines:

QUOTE

We need to know the following information:
1- 1st paragraph: Short history, list of current and former members, style & similar bands
2- 2nd paragraph: Describe the better cds without mentioning track titles
3- End with mention (recommended, highly recommended or not)

Note: Band names should be written in UPPER CASE and album titles between quotation marks "..." (ex: MARILLION "Brave").
END QUOTE

There are no hard-and-fast word count requirements as far as I know, but I suggest that you keep it to about the same length as the current PENDRAGON bio, which is circa 350 words.

Hibou is the Chief Biography Editor, so if you post your text in this thread I'll make sure she knows about it.

Thanks.

PENDRAGON were formed in Stroud, England in 1978. Originally known as ZEUS PENDRAGON it was decided fairly early on to drop the "ZEUS" as co-founder Julian Baker felt it was too wordy to fit on a t-shirt! There were several line up changes in the early days, members included Julian Baker (co-founder/guitar) Nigel Harris (drums) Stan Cox (bass) Robert Dalby (bass) John Barney Barnfield (keys) Rik Carter (keys) The one constant key element was Nick Barrett. The line up then remained the same for almost 20 years, featuring :- Nick Barrett (Guitar/lead vocal) Clive Nolan (keys) Peter Gee (bass) and Fudge Smith (drums) Until 2006 when PENDRAGON and Fudge Smith parted ways.
To date their have been 21 releases from PENDRAGON who set up their own label "TOFF RECORDS" in the late 1980's following the release of "The Jewel" and "KowTow" (as well as a couple of mini albums) "The Masquerade Overture" is probably their most acclaimed work to date. Although a recent change of direction with "Believe" has seen opinions somewhat split it is definitely a remarkable album and maybe showing a move away from classic Neo-Prog.
I would highly recommend this band to anyone enjoying neo-prog.

will this do? it certainly contains more "facts" than the current fairy-tale bio!!!

Cheers,
P-C

They were playing mainly their own stuff, but a set was filled out with a lot of covers in the early days. But definitely their own stuff has always been part of the set.
