Yeah, Mesa's are great. Still a bit overpriced, though...(not as overpriced as a Marshall, of course)

As I am a bass player, I must vote Ampeg.

But not for guitars.  for your six-string, it's a tough call between Marshall and Mesa.  It all depends I think on what kind of guitar you have.  Mesas have huge sound and can be very versatile (just look at Petrucci's rig on the Budokan DVD.  holy crap.) 

But there's something to be said for that special sound that comes when a Gibson guitar is played straight thru a cranked Marshall.  It's a beautiful thing.

i have played that mesa thingie on yer pic...hmm well strange stuff fender is still the best bet tho ...ofcourse you dont want to buy them its alot cheaper to build em yourself from scratch...and guitar amps are really easy to build

Off the list,  Mesa Boogie.
The only Marshall I like a lot is the JVM series.
From Mesa Boogie, they have the Mark IV, absolutely amazing sounding amp.

old Mesa-Boogies. A good amount of non-digital fender amps are good too. I like my princeton and fender bass practice amp which actually gives me the guitar tone I like the most.

Vox ac30 rules. Unfortunately, Fender & Marshall inhabit the "classic" rock space; Mesa and other "boutique" amps occupy a higher place; but Vox is the one that can do clear & clean, and lean & mean.
But the AC30cc2 is still 970CAD plus taxes Cry
But luckily I live in Canada, so I have Traynor amps that manage to fit smaller budgets & still blow away most other amps. The YCV40 is the best deal around; then the ycv50 for that darker sound, and finally the ycv80 where you have fender like clean & marshall dirt.

The money you save can be spent on other essentials - Beer !

I owned a Mesa Studio Series for years, great amp, I've also been impressed by GK and Seymour Duncan..  I think Dave Gilmour was using Mesa/Boogie heads with Fender speakers for awhile, great combo!

Check out the Vox Tonelab SE/LE ... it offers many sounds, including that of the Vox AC30. Smile
