Hello,

I recently saw the "Rush in Rio" DVD, and it surprised me when they started to play "Closer to the Heart" that Lifeson was still using his PRS electric for the acoustic section. I became quite intrigued, so I attempted find out about this.

There was one pedal called the Boss AC-2 Acoustic Simulation pedal, that does and satisfactory job of recreating the sound of an acoustic guitar. Though I was wondering if there are any other pedals like that?

I quite interested in buying one as I feel it would be an integral component to my bands music when playing live, as I don't want to switch to acoustics all the time.

Thanks

Haven't seen that dvd yet but it sounds like it might be a piezo pickup on his PRS. The sound isn't exactly like a mic'd acoustic but if you're playing to thousands of people through kilowatts of power, few will notice. There are some of these pickups that sound passable at a lower powered rig.

There is definetly a pedal out there- don't know what it is, but John Petrucci uses it to good advantage on a number of DT live dvd's as well...
