Yes, it's the long-awaited third album in the Now That's What I Call Prog series where you get to choose 20 classic prog favourites by 20 different artists to make up an ideal best-selling prog compilation album for the year 1969, with a whole host of new, up-and-coming prog artists to choose from this year, including Chicago, Colosseum, Genesis, King Crimson, Rare Bird, Renaissance, Santana, Van der Graaf Generator, and of course, Yes.

^ Again, my prog compilation pales in insignificance compared to yours. It looks like my album is destined for the charity shop bargain bin again.

'Something In The Air' by Thunderclap Newman is probably my favourite single of all time.
Your list is definitely more 'prog' than mine though! ![]() I will look forward to the 'Now That's What I Call Prog 1970' thread! ![]() |

Well, maybe that's where I went wrong by only focusing strictly on prog, otherwise I would've chosen Thunderclap Newman for my compilation too, possibly in place of Andromeda, Arzachel or Arcadium, who were all obscure even back in 1969.

Come to think of it, I already do have Thunderclap Newman on a prog compilation at home, and I bought it from a charity shop bargain bin too.

Hi, Paul ... I don't think this song is any good ... unless you play it with that ending from "The Magic Christian" ... somehow the song is dull without it!

Well, I guess you're in a minority of one then if you don't like Something in the Air. As for me, I love it and I wish I'd included the song in my prog compilation too, along with Fleetwood Mac's Albatross. ![]() |

For 1969, I would consider Fleetwood Mac's Then Play On as progressive blues, and the song "Oh Well, Part 2" as progressive as anything in rock that year, with classical composition and Spanish flamenco overtones.

Hi, I like the song ... no worries there ... but you have not seen the ending of the film! Otherwise you would appreciate the humor a bit more! Not surprised ... so many folks that do rock music don't watch movies, or check out the peripheral side of the musicians. The film is not exactly a well liked one, it's a mess, really, but it has some priceless bits here and there and how/when various music is used. Badfinger is also on it. But some catchy lines are difficult to forget ... they are really fine and Peter Sellers delivers most of them!
