Compiled from 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die - Fifty Years of Music from 1955 to 2004.
Is this the worst 1001 Albums poll so far with two utter 1-star stinkers included, or am I just Out of Step with the times? Oh well, I'll just have to Let It Be, seeing as there's only a couple of albums for me to Treasure in this poll. I can promise it does get marginally better in Part 2 of the 1984 polls though. 1984: Cocteau Twins - Treasure - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_kUGKhEE7r9LeOmqSV0w7zfWfirlPrVFAo 1984: Frankie Goes to Hollywood - Welcome to the Pleasure Dome - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_kgP8in2fUSz0PCb0gPnhcZyNWOMrRiDBI 1984: Minor Threat - Out of Step - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_k02Gy4M5XFbBJQc8ENgG1aiuzVu9MkQx0 1984: Prince and the Revolution - Purple Rain - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_nZh8Bqp7b-jedaxIGOtSoNPwk_FnqtaCk 1984: The Replacements - Let It Be - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_mu0Y-Cw8U1AIZX-I_m6eFKfH8wXrYHcc8 1984: Run-DMC - Run-DMC - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=USSNbp9jsos 1984: Sade - Diamond Life - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rYMfByIx4O0 1984: Van Halen - 1984 - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_k-Wp747MeVPu1IxzedbjSKI4X1Jiteh7w

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

Sade's first album Diamond Life is excellent - a real band too, not just a singer with hired hands The following year's Promise was also good, but too samey and the surprise was gone. .

let's just stay above the moral melee
prefer the sink to the gutter keep our sand-castle virtues content to be a doer as well as a thinker, prefer lifting our pen rather than un-sheath our sword |

Thanks. I'll keep them coming until I run out of albums in 2004.

I haven't listened to Sade's album in a long time, but I always liked it. Maybe still more than the Frankie Goes to Hollywood, which also has some strong material (and which I've revisited not long ago).

I can relate to Van Halen. I get up, and nothing gets me down. Ah, might as well Jump! |
