The Danish Jazz-Rock band, Secret Oyster which formed in 1972, has got some international reputation even apparently is only
little known on PA. In my context, Secret Oyster has not only been the favourite Danish band since mid-1970s but also one of my
favourite Jazz-Rock artists all-time - which is not so little, as Jazz-Rock is my second most liked Prog sub-genre. In 1976, I had even
the pleasure of joining a concert by them given in my highschool, and I guess getting not so little of a personal attention, as there
were only a dozen of other listeners - if that many.
Quite a memory and it did not made me less fond of them, with my favourite album always being Sea Son (1974).

Anyway, I'll hope others will have pleasure of this thread too, with whatever it will show to bring. Smile

My personal favorite is the debut and Straight To The Krankenhaus is a close second.

Sea Son is excellent too.

Still haven't heard the 2019 archival release Striptease

I've heard of them too, so they must be Denmark's worst-kept secret. Tongue

LOL  Ookay, one of your self-ironical jokes, Paul, but I remember that you've also listened to some of Secret Oyster's albums, and you've even told something very positive about the band. Tongue

The only one I don't like is Astarte - especially the flipside.

Haven't heard the 2019 album either (didn't even know they released one), but checking it out in our DB, most of the historical members are on it.

let's just stay above the moral melee
prefer the sink to the gutter
keep our sand-castle virtues
content to be a doer
as well as a thinker,
prefer lifting our pen
rather than un-sheath our sword

About 10 years ago, I bought Sea son (Cd + 3 more tracks of decent quality)
Nice stuff
I must not deceive myself by saying that their originals LPs have never been distributed here (Belgium).

Great band. I ran into them at a convenient store and walked up behind them and said something like "ok, what's the secret?" Wink

Paul has been so kind to provide links to all the Secret Oyster albums except from the new one, but I still think it's a good idea
with a little sample here, and why not from my favourite album, Sea Son - great!:

Secret Oyster is very probably one of the three internationally most appreciated 1970s Prog bands from Denmark, and it's not
coincidental it's a Jazz-Rock band, as this genre was quite/very popular amongst Danish progressive musicians, much more
than Symphonic.

It can be also told that Secret Oyster only play instrumental music, so surely no problems with Danish vocals are possible here. LOL

As a soundtrack Astarte is decent but as an active listening S.O. album it's rather lackluster.

I've only heard the name, not the music.  Cool stuff, thanks!!

Isn't YouTube amazing?  We can sample all sorts of obscure music for free!  I don't mind the goofy ads, at least you can skip them!

Maybe I'm Amazed, but YouTube just got a whole lot more amazing since I started using a free ad-blocker to block out all of YouTube's goofy ads - especially the immensely irritating gambling ads. Smile

I do like Secret Oyster, but I'm personally more keen on their precursor, Burnin Red Ivanhoe. It sounds a lot more edgy to me.

Secret Oyster is also quite interesting in the context of Progressive Rock concept, as I think their music was on borderline of
Jazz-Rock and regular Progressive Rock.
