I love early Roxy Music so I voted for them. Maybe Ziggy Stardust is a stronger album (there's no maybe, it is), but it had so many votes already.

Pink Moon is lovely and touching, but I'm one of the seemingly few who actually prefer Nick Drake with a backing band - or some sort of arrangement in addition to Nick and his guitar.

Most of these I do not know well -- I may know music from the albums, but not the whole albums, and in some cases I have not heard them in 40 or more years. Of those I do know well, it has to be The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars for me despite not being one of my favourite Bowie albums. As for Nick Drake, Pink Moon did not appeal much (only tried once). The Nick Drake I love best is "River Man" and "Fruit Tree" off Five Leaves Left, and Five Leaves Left is my favourite Nick Drake album. And a nod to School's Out, which I loved as a child.

Roughly half the albums here were familiar to me before running this poll, but the biggest surprise was finding how much I enjoyed Tim Buckley's Greetings from L.A, when his previous two albums, Lorca and Starsailor, didn't appeal to me at all. I've never been a big fan of the maudlin folk music of Nick Drake, so I feel the same way as you do about his Pink Moon album. I was a big Alice Cooper's School's Out though, especially in the school summer holidays of 1972 when I was about to become a teenager, with all that that entails, including the start of my prog journey with Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells. Smile
