You either love them or hate them but what Greta Van Fleet do is always full of energy.

They have a new album The Battle at Garden's Gate which is scheduled for release on April 16, 2021

They have released 4 songs so far as a taster for the upcoming album and i have to say, i REALLY enjoyed it even though i didn't like some of their prior albums

You mostly hear derogative comments about them such as too much like Led Zep, too Rush wanna be' vocals, and so forth.

However, I do love to hear the influences they were obviously affected by in their style, and on this album they certainly have finally created their own identity which has been stamped on modern rock.

Give it a listen and enjoy, it certainly made me happy this week.

Note* For Adele fans, they do a cracking version of Rolling in the Deep.

The vocals are something that you either love or dislike.

However, an update today. Another release from the new album coming April 16, 2021.

This one a classic rock ballad, and I have to say on first listen, the vocals are perfect.

The song left my heart fluttering. 10/10 for this track.

I'm just glad to see that guitar-driven rock is still alive!

this band has reached the mainstream I guess, but there is an entire retro 60-70s scene, homage to heavy-psych, hard rock, blues rock, stoner rock and so on.

I heard them a couple of times on an XM station (I don't normally listem to).  What I'll say about them is that I didn't change the station when they were on.

As Tiger mentioned brieflly above they get compared to Led Zep...and rightly so. There's no question in my mind that they were going for that sound either consciously or subconsciously.  Even thought they might downplay it when asked the similarities are eveywhere in their type of bluesrock. That's not necessarily a bad thing since they do it fairly well.
The lyrics could be better and are awkward at times ,but I like the basic melodies and song structures. They need to develop their own identitiy and not borrow too much from Zep's mystique and sound or imho they'll never get beyond a certain level.

I think that they are starting to morph into thier own identify as opposed to thier debut album but still have a ways to go. And the singer is starting to sound more like Geddy Lee than Robert Plant. But I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not.
