Fairport Convention (prog-related) actually released 3 studio albums in 1969.

1. What We Did On Our Holidays (released January 1969)
2. Unhalfbricking (released July 1969)
3. Liege and Lief (released December 1969)

An amazing feat.

All brilliant albums (IMHO) and#3 is a masterpiece (IMHO).

nice.. saved everyone a Mickdiatribe for overlooking that.  For all the forum wreckage that duality caused. Act 1 of the Micky-Ivan forum wars was the fight over the release date of Fragle.  After pages and pages of dueling red and blue font I won... and got the release date changed from what it had been (1972 when it was released in the States) to 1971 when it was released in Englamd.

If you are just counting minutes of released music most CDs released today
would be equal to 2 LPs (or more) back then...

What are some others?

Van der Graaf Generator-The least we can do is wave to each other and H to He who am the only one. Both from 1970. Also from that year two King Crimson albums: In the wake of Poseidon and Lizard.

Of course Frank Zappa released two albums(if not more)in a single year. Off the top of my head he had Joe's Garage and Sheik Yerbouti(both from1979). I know that's kind of cheating since the latter was recorded mostly live with much of the crowd sound edited out. If not a big deal then we can also count King Crimson's Red and Starless and Bible Black(both from 1974 and another album where the applause was filtered out on the live tracks).
