At college today we had a short lecture on the history of art. This got me thinking, maybe it's covered, who do you think was/is the most progressive artist?

For me either Jotto or Picaso

Anyone else?

Salvador Dali
Pablo Picasso
DaVinci (he made the first blueprints for a helicopter for f**ks sake!)
M.C. Escher
Roy Lichtenstein
Andy Worhol

I'm a big fan of the arts, being an artist myself.

I agree with Miracle, Roger Dean best represents prog music, but I don't think this is what you are asking. All the masters in any period were progressive for their time, with quite a few of them changing the direction of art.

^^^ thats a pretty cool picture but it reminds me more of metal than prog.

for me the most prog artist is definitely Salvador Dali.
The shapes are recognizable but everything is different, more complicated, and exists on several levels.  much like prog music.
