Man, this is not fair...torn between a number of these.  I have a feeling I Giganti will win but going with Panna Fredda.  It was around the 6th or 7th RPI album I got and have a soft spot for it...

New Trolls. Not a masterpiece but it's unique in its genre and has a special place in my heart
I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution

Awesome pick, Jim, I remember several of us fondly discussing Panna Fredda's `Uno' on the site over the years! Hope you're well, mate.

Oh man, what to pick.....Osanna's `L'Uomo' is cool, the New Trolls' `Concerto Grosso' has really grown on me and is an easy enjoyable listen, and of course the Orme's `Collage' is great...

I adore Nuova Idea's `In The Beginning', plenty of nice psychedelic ambition on that one, and it kicks a little bit of ass here and there....it's still my personal favourite album from them, even if `Clowns' is THE big one from them. Listening to it again now, such a cool album!!

But you know me too well, Sagi, and how much I cherish that first Delirium album, such a warm folky vibe, great vocals, lovely playing...a perfect summer album, so it gets my vote! Like Nuova Idea, they released better albums, but `Dolce Acqua' is where it's at for me!

I heop you'll do a 1972 poll eventually too!

One of my favourite bands around that time from Italy was Nova.  I know they started around 1976 onwards.

Of the few I've heard, Le Orme.

Le Orme over Osanna. Yeah RPI started to make some noise but 1972 was the year it blew up really good.

Hey Michael, still standing upright and breathing, so I am doing well, thanks!  Yes remember some of those Panna Fredda discussions and is most likely what encouraged me to get that album early on in my RPI listening.

Since I got the Delirium CD "71 - 75" this year I have enjoyed that album as well (first time hearing it this year).  Great CD to get, all 3 early albums plus some other bonus stuff.

A little surprised by the voting thus far, thought I Giganti would be pulling ahead, but there are too many good albums here...Collage is a worthy leader!

I also thought this would be closer between Le Orme and I Giganti, but I guess Orme are rightfully in the lead.
As much as I love Collage I feel like going with Delirium this time, it certainly has that magic in it, what a great album!

We are the mighty `Dolce Acqua Army of Two', Sagi!

I'm actually not surprised Le Orme have romped this one home, they're simply the `Big Guys' here, the RPI bullies if you will, stepping on and beating down all opposition from the littles ones, what chance did they even have!

It would be nice to give a well deserved vote to I Giganti. Unfortunately while the instrumentation and themes are the sound of delicious RPI, as so many times before - its the vocals that drags the album down. While not flat out horrible as with Aqua Fragile and Jumbo, its amateurish and not even close to match their playing-skills.

Too bad I also struggle with Claudio Rocchi's vocals on Volo Magico N.1. Its just too much wide eyed emotions at display for me I'm afraid. A shame because the sidelong titiletrack has a lot of great things going for it.

Braen's Machine is a brilliant little fuzz-psych and whatnot gem but if I'm honest I got to give Le Orme's and perhaps Italy's first true prog (and most certainly the first successful one*) album its 13th vote. Such beauty.

*meaning if New Trolls concerto-atrocity was released before Collage

Impossible to vote for numero uno.

I give you 5 instead:

New Trollsī 1st Concerto
Nuova Idea (their "Clowns" is something else btw, one of the best from a more crazier side of RPI)
Le Orme
Osannaīs 1st
Panna Fredda

All have an unique sound (well all Italian bands have really) and style. Thatīs the beauty of the classic Italian scene.
You may see a smile on Tony Banksī face but thatīs unlikely.

I'm so glad someone gave a vote to Nuova Idea's `In The Beginning'....I just kind of wish it was me! Voters regret?! Hmmm, maybe, but I do love that Delirium debut anyway!

Was that someone me ? Nuova Idea is very psych and also quite prog in the beginning, I like it alot. So I like "Dolce Aqua" too but I find Ivano Fossettiīs singing somewhat annoying in that particular tune but who cares. Itīs a happy, "summerish" album indeed Cool
