If comedy is "The New Rock & Roll", then some people are Comedy Prog.

Monty Python are obviously so, with their sketches that blend into other sketches instead of just having a punchline, and conceptual wizardry in their albums, and Pink Floyd & Jethro Tull (among many others) being huge fans in the early 70s.

Then there is comedy music, of course:

Hi,

Not sure I'm a good one to list these ... but here goes:

Alberto Y Los Trios Paranoios -- know absolutely nothing about them!

Peter Cook and Dudley Moore -- by all intents this is very progressive comedy, that most of us have no idea what the fudge they are saying and to whom! The musical pieces are out of this world as Dud was a world class jazz/classical pianist.

Derek and Clive -- more Peter and Dud, but beware ... this is not for the kids! And you won't forget the lobster or the horse race!

Grimms -- Breakout after Bonzo's that did not take off as well, but Mike McGear kinda did his thing with it. Between 2 albums and Mike's solo, there are some great things here, and let's not forget ... singing all together ... a capella ... to the army! Early McGear is also rather ... unique!

Roger Ruskin Spear -- Ex Bonzo. 2 albums and both are fantastic, but the 2nd one, Mr Pete Townsend won't spend a nickel putting it out again ... there is no better solo comedy album than "Unusual" complete with the best version of Pinball Wizard ever done! Eat your heart out Ken Russell!

Vivian Stanshall -- Ex bonzo. A couple of things that are way out of town and neat and crazy and totally eccentric. Fun to listen to, anyway.

Neil Innes/Eric Idle -- all of them have nice solo albums. Innes has a very large catalogue including some randy racquel's!

Guy Guden -- Widely known clown and great fun fool, that spread his version of the cozmic loud smile and cloud around many folks. Were it not for Philosophy Bowling, or Chef Bruno's new recipes, or Oscar B. Chow's midnight movies, let alone the amazing histories of the discoveries of many continents as an excuse to bring out the Mateus, and if you still have not heard the Dawn of Rock and Roll and Barb Wirey and the Maulers! Let no sound effect, EVER, be safe in their storage bins! Did you check your watch lately?

Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!
