As far as what is on the shopping list that is pretty extensive. Of course, the CDs that you recommended to me: Dreamscape's 5th Season (I did download End of Silence from eMusic, but they didn't have this one); the Seventh Wonder albums; and the Mind's Eye albums.
I would like to get both the new Pendragon and the new Marillion but I am hoping that they will show up reasonably priced on Amazon. I might download the Marillion CD, but I haven't yet. I kind of want to get Nil Recurring from Porcupine Tree, but I want to pay EP price not LP price. I am hoping that one will show up on eMusic soon. The rest of the PT releases are there now.
Other CDs of note that I would like to get are The Reasoning's The Awakening; Magenta's Metamorphosis (I actually would like to get more from them but I have the same import problems with them that I have with Marillion and Pendragon); the back albums from Mostly Autumn (I recently downloaded their two newest and I would like to explore them further); Neil Morse's Lifeline; Circus Maximus' Isolate; the Amaseffer CD; Anubis Gate's Andromeda Unchained; Camel's Mirage; Beardfish's Sleeping in Traffic Part Two; Gentle Giant's Three Friends; Akacia's The Brass Serpent; Cast's Originalis.
There are many, many more on the list but this is a good cross section of it.

so, who exactly are the target client group for this room then? I'm guessing Patrick, Scott, Melissa and who else???

I downloaded on your recommendation in the Suede Room. If I don't like it then I guess that I'll just have to cheer for the Dodgers; but I expect that I'll be cheering for the Phillies.

It kind of reminded me of a more studious, earnest take on early Residents stuff.  Who knows whether I'll listen to it often...

I think there's a new member named Silver Sable who is "our age", but she probably needs to explore the proper prog threads before wasting time in these types of rooms. But soon she'll get sick of DT and Genesis polls and find her way here.

You'll have to let me know if I should add any of those to my shopping list. I have Sieges Even's Paramount and I like that one. And its funny, I bought a used copy of Fates Warning's Live in Athens DVD a couple of months back but I haven't watched it yet.  With baseball season over I should have more TV time for watching DVDs.

I saw that emusic has a lot of Residents records on it, I will grab one of them shortly to give it a try. I don't if it's some sort of avant heresy*, but I really do think I prefer Present to UZ. Very close though. * I suppose heresie would be more appropriate.

The thirty-something -ish crowd. Early 40's/late 20's included. Logan mentioned an interest in the Silver Sable Welcome thread so I figured that that might be 2 more. Possibly, Micky, although I know that he professes hatred for these type threads now that they don't show up on the main page I figured he might drop by from time to time. Possibly E-Dub, since he likes to chat in the What Are You Listening To Now? thread, but he hasn't dropped by yet, so he might not like these type threads either. I'm sure there are others of us out there.

Of course I will...you could also look at my 'ratings' list on PA (about 700 albums..) but I think you have a good idea of what I like...

Sleeper lent me 'The Art Of Navigating' recently, and I have to say, its great...

Choose carefully where the Residents are concerned! The wrong album can put you off for... a long time.  If they've got 'Not Available', uh, available... that might be a good one to try. Y'know, I'm with you on Present. It took me ages to appreciate UZ, and I like them more and more, but Present was an instant hit. It's just got a wonderful balance of cleverness and cheekiness, and I like how it manages to be kinda 'RIO and catchy' at the same time. Ooops, sorry, this isn't the RIO/avant thread...
