i've tried, but i cannot get into anything pre-atom heart mother.  even that album is out there with the choirs and stuff.  meddle to final cut is an amazing run though.  love the final cut.

Toddler you are a bleeping inspiration to this site!! I genuinely mean that. Not only did you just mirror my own personal thoughts on the Floyd/Geesin connection, but you did so from a wonderfully insightful perspective as well: a true fan of music itself and what it is able to achieve at times.

I have a huge workload in front of me currently, which makes me use up all my spare time on filling out forms and writing lord knows how many observations down, which means I have little or zero time to spend on my favourite thing: music and talking to likeminded spirits, but when I just now, by coincidence, stumbled over your post, I just thought you deserved your own special shout out from a true fan of yours. This is David from Denmark acknowledging a fellow lover of music. Here's to you man, you just made my evening!

Thanks for the post reply.

I just wanted to share this clip with Floyd fans because of its rarity.  While everyone has seen Pompeii, I'm not sure how many Floyd fans have seen their set from the Rotterdam festival of '70, from the film Stamping Ground.

Enjoy the still trippy Floyd live!

Have you seen/heard Live in Pompeii? For me it's the quintesential early Floyd recording, and I find it just about perfect.

yes of course, Pompeii is really one of my favorite Floyd releases simply because the song selection is so great and the performances are as well. And that film brings it all to simply another level

Including some of their solo efforts.
I listened to The Division Bell for the first time in 2010. It's now one of my all-time favorite albums. It's nice seeing it getting some love.

Perhaps my choice of words were a bit harsh. I just listened to Piper again and it had it's charm. I don't think i'll ever get Ummagumma or Saucerful though.

Well, Ummagumma is worth it mainly for the live album. And as I said before, Live at Pompeii is just great. Perhaps, just perhaps, you might enjoy those...

I'm not crazy about the extra space stuff they added into the "Director's Cut", which is the version most commonly available now.  But otherwise, one of my favorite music films, if not my absolute favorite.

The DVD that I have is the Direcor's Cut (I'm not sure if there is any other version available), and indeed all the "interviews" or whatever that is added between songs destroys the flow of the music. However, it does include the original film in the extras, only the music from beginning to end, and after the first time that I saw the directors cut, every other time I've seen the original one, much better way of enjoying the film.

^ I liked the cut ... even though some of the sessions were pretty fake as the band was already done with the album.

What I don't like is the break in the music. Between each track having some conversation of the band and so on, it just kind of breaks the magic, and makes it less interesting in a musical point of view.

^ I see. You like watching it as if you were listening to an album. But ... a film is a film.
