its dead mean that you open up a nice new room for your age group, and yet no-one joins the party, Scotty...
although if the pizza is vegetarian, I might just come back and help you demolish it...

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

I'm not much for vegetarian pizza per se, but from time to time I will order pizza with just green peppers or just green peppers and onions. If you'd like I can get some more veggies on the other half for you. We can even drink some of that Shropshire Lad that you mentioned yesterday.

I've never heard Saga, so I don't know. My tastes are pretty broad and cover all across the prog spectrum, however. *wants to put Koenjihyakkei on the stereo*

They're currently located in Prog-related, but probably belong in crossover. They are probably my second favorite band from Canada (although in my defense I'm not familiar with all of those Quebec' bands that others like). They are kind of Rush's little brother. In my opinion, very good progressive pop.

As far as Koenjihyakkei goes, I know that I can't put a filter on the stereo for that since Pat likes that stuff, but I will have to kindly ask that it only gets played during the RIO hours. It's kind of like a radio station, where you have to find that extra special program that is on from 3:00 to 4:00 in the morning if you want to hear the stuff that you really want to hear.

I should probably hear it then (especially with the Rush comparison).

Have you heard any Koenji? And, don't worry, I won't really... I have the Suede Room all the time to play things like that if I really want to hear it. I'm not going to bother you guys with it; all you have to do is walk next door.

Their PA bio says the following: So, if you're into groups like KANSAS, ASIA, RUSH, STYX, or YES, a new dimension of music awaits you... SAGA!

One of the festivals offered free downloads of bands that were playing (I forget which one) so I downloaded Grembo Zavia and Rattims Friezz from Koenji. Musically they were OK but I found the voice to be extremely annoying.
BTW, currently playing on the Shred Room stereo is Angel's Egg from Gong. I suppose that I ought to be a little open-minded.

That does sound pretty good. I'll have to do that then! Thanks!

Yeah, I can understand that. Weird voices took me a while to get into way back when I was getting into Magma. I took a 6 month break from them back then since I liked the music but couldn't get into the voice. In the meantime I heavily discovered Frank Zappa, which seemed to open a door for me... since when I went back to Magma after that half a year break, I was absolutely blown away. Since then, I've never had any musical or vocal troubles of any kind. Sometimes certain aspects of a band or certain bands can take some persistence, and not everything is to my taste entirely, but I'm glad I wasn't too stubborn. Then again, I definitely think that wouldn't work for everyone. Perhaps you should branch out a bit, but it seems like your taste is pretty good to mine. I've never noticed any closed-mindedness either, and at least you're willing to give anything a try, so there's nothing critical on mind. Gong is fantastic, by the way. I'd say that's pretty open-minded right there.

In my blog, I listed all of the different genres and the albums in the PA top 20 that I have from these genres. I hit most of them but there are some that are limited to 0 to 4 of the albums. In conversation, with either BaldJean or BaldFriede I think that we determined that our tastes are about as opposite as two prog fans tastes can be. Whereas they really like Gong, I find Gong to be too weird for my tastes. In actuality, now that Angel's Egg is over, it wasn't too bad. It had some pretty good parts scattered throughout the very strange parts. If I were to put it in the regular rotation it might grow on me.

Time for me to squelch out some high notes and rock out with Fly Paper from Tiles. You guys in the Suede Room might want to take your paintings off of the walls so they don't come crashing down.

Have you heard "You" by Gong? That's definitely their best, has the least amount of weirdness (most of the typically weird songs are the shorter ones), and is easily their instrumental best. I always recommend that one first to a newbie.

Already took care of that. The room's pretty empty though, I've been in and out of taking care of it for the past few hours. People are usually out and about doing things in ProgArchivia on Friday nights.

Geezus, in the time I actually take a break from the computer for about 24 hours this thread pops up
And yes, Alex, I was busy doing things on my Friday night, hence my absence from PA
Let's see, I'm older than Rico, yet he has posted here a few times, I'm
older than AlexMovingpics, I'm older than Davidbirdwithteeth, I'm older
than YesFanDahlia, Older than all the STC thread former:P members members:P, older than BJ a.k.a Blowie and a few others
Hell. hell, the only guys older than me are Jaydee (who is pretty much
on the right age for this thread anyway) KoSRicardo, Bern, and Phil
(MWH), but I was born in the same year as KoS and Phil.
Since James is 28 and has been posting in the Gray Room/Shed for a few
years now because he is only 2 years under the official age, does that mean since I'm now getting old for the SR and I have been legally able to drink alcohol for nearly 2 years now (and indeed I enjoy a nice beer or 5 and/or wine once a weekend or so) that I can be a "kinda, but not quite" member in here?

Scott, you might want to think about spilling oil and ball-bearings on the floor between here and the Suede room - it doesn't stop the infiltrations, but it is mighty amusing.

I've got a little bit of a set up to have a bit of fun with my Suede Room buddies that keep dropping by.
