I always despised Robin Williams in movies, but recently discovered that his old standup is hilarious. Whereas Jim Carrey I like all around (even though he's been in a lot of average movies).

Hi,
If you ever have the chance to see the "Actor's Studio" episode with Robin, you will know why he is worth his weight in gold and then some ... a really special crazie that knows what he is doing, and is helping others with it. And unlike Jim Carrey, Robin can do serious work that Jim is not willing or capable of doing and does nothave the guts to do at all. Jim Carrey is an "image" ... Robin is an actor! ... and there is a massive difference.

Both have the potential to be funny, but both have let me down alot. I would say Williams though. His humour is more... intelligent?

Always liked Jim Carey - plus he's in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, one of my all-time favorites. Williams doesn't have a movie like that to back him up.

We don't have to talk about "The Dead Poets' Society" ... or even "Awakenings" ... or perhaps you might sit through "The King Fisher".

I feel like The Majestic, Eternal Sunshine, and Truman Show are all better. Dead Poets is really nice but does not have the emotional value and creativity of Eternal Sunshine or Truman Show, both two of my favorite movies.
Not to say I dislike williams I loved him in One Hour Photo but other than that his serious roles don't do it for me. His comedy was great in his day but has gotten so bad, mutch worse than Carreys worst in my opinion.

Yeah I wanted to jump in and disagree with the Carrey can't be serious comment, but it looks taken care of. In fact I can take him much more seriously than Robin Williams.

Never found Williams really funny, but Carrey always made me laugh. And plus, he was in Eternal Sunshine Of the Spotless Mind, so that's an automatic win for me.

Robin Williams all the way! He is amazing and honestly what is better than growing up watching Hook, Jumanji and Mrs. Doubtfire :)
