I was into The Sweet, Slade & Mud, as so many other kids I suppose. Chinn & Chapman!
And then, like many others, I got attracted to Queen.

Nowadays, my favorite artists of glam would be Roxy Music, on the strength of their first two albums.

I think that "Electric Warrior", "The Slider" and "Tanx" are well worth listening in,
but be sure that Marc Bolan was the least progressive of the three.
It's far more old time rock'n'roll & boogie-infected... the music is more simple but very charming.
HE was the "Glam" of it.
I agree with you concerning Roxy, though...
in many ways they were better, far more adventurous.
But it was T.Rex that I grew up with... my elder brother bringing home all their albums and singles in the early 70s.

I had some connection to it in reality which was stunning for me. I had a guitartist friend who played like Alan Holdsworth and was a guitarist for the New York Dolls. I toured along with the Dead End Kids and Ian Hunter. I followed Glam Rock long before I ever hit the road. I liked the Slider by T.REX, Country Life -Roxy Music, early Bowie. The first 2 Ian HUnter releases and "White Punks On Dope" felt like a closing to it all.

There is another side to teen glam band Sweet that would probably surprise many on PA i.e. they were a very highly accomplished hard rock band when they played the music they wanted to make
