   I thought this would be easy, but I see I was wrong. Since it is becoming rather tedious I will now drop a number of hints to motivate you.

The artist was the singer, principal songwriter and rhythm guitarist for his band, his success was probably more critical than commercial, but his name would probably be recognized by everyone in America. He was born in New York and has worked with David Bowie.
