This artist was in a band.

Is that band listed on PA?

No it is not. A thoughtful question.

I thought maybe Iggy but he’s born a few years too late. Folk?

I didn't even realize Iggy was American. I always thought he was British.

No he's not a folky. He generally plays fairly straightforward rock, with some arty leanings.

Did he or his band have any major hits?

Not really glam rock. He had one fairly big hit, his band did not.

But both he and his band are quite well known.

Stop guessing genres. He is not a hard rock artist. As I said, he plays fairly straightforward rock with some arty tendencies.

Can’t be Fleetwood Mac. They had many big hits. Is the guy still alive?

He's still alive, and you're right it's not Fleetwood Mac.
