Ahahaha, that's perfect sci-fi theme music. I didn't realize the ELP song would start right away so it took me a second to realize that it wasn't a theme song. No wonder it sounded so familiar.

This is something i did not personally see, but read reference to on the net a while ago
On and episode of the Gilmore Girls, a character calls himself a "Closet prog fan" and says he listens to Gentle Giant, Van der Graaf Generator, and Triumvirat don't have the episode or character name, sorry |

There's always the scene in Pineapple Express where Seth Rogen is ranting to his younger girlfriend, saying something to the effect of ".... you'll go off to college and start listening to Godspeed You! Black Emperor and the f**king Shins...."

Hmmm... I've seen every episode of Gilmore Girls, and I would think that would be something I'd remember. I will state as fact that Sebastian Bach of the band Skid Row played a recurring character on the show. No, I'm not saying he's prog related! |

Warching a BBC documentary related to historic Antarctic expeditions, Starless from King Crimson's Red album was used extensively. Seemed to fit quite well

A couple of weeks ago, my wife and I celebrated our anniversary by going out to a Japanese restaurant for some sushi. When we walked in, the first song I heard was "The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway". Heard some other interesting tunes too, including "Lady Love" by Robin Trower (!).

I bought recently a DVd set called "1001 Classic Commercials" with tv commercials from the 50s to the 70s. I saw a Dole Bananas commercial from the seventies that had music from PInk Floyd's album Dark Side Of The Moon in the background, you know the part where a woman is singing along to the music

Someone just sent me a Youtube link to that commercial a couple of weeks ago. Very amusing.

They must have thought the music is cheap or something.
Why would they put "The Lamb" on in a Japanese restaurant? That's just beyond me.

Not as many as you may think, no. Am I the only one to see some sort of reference to D Sound's debut?

I heard the exact same section in a some cell phone commercial on the phone ... at least that's how I remember it: it was a cell phone commercial three-four years ago.

In the movie Lords Of Dogtown (Skateboarding movie), one of the main character's mom is wearing a Jethro Tull shirt is some of the scenes. I was watching it today with my friend, and I was pretty surprised when I saw it.

Christ, how could I forget this? School of Rock ! Jack Black's character gives the kids some insights on Yes and Pink Floyd, and he got the kid on keys to wear a silly robe . Plus, Black himself is into Rush.
BTW, is this true ?: "Roundabout" was used as the first song in Episode 20, Season 2 of the TV Series Fringe. (Wikipedia.)

"Til' Death" - 'Second Marriage Guy':
This episode has Karl talking about his wife, that she plays bass and an electric flute, like she is into Jethro Tull.
