Aside from the holy trinity of Close To The Edge/Fragile and The Yes Album I find this one of their most enjoyable albums. Its a bit barmy but Yes were good at that

Is it really? Didn't expect that song to be somebody's favorite. Mind you, I don't dislike UFO. In fact, I like all of the songs on Tormato. Even UFO and Circus Of Heaven which have grown on me through the years. Circus Of Heaven, now that it's bound to disappear in round 1: I even like Damian Anderson's appearance at the end.

No vote yet. I have a feeling that there are four or five least favourites on this list.

It actually hurts me to see people voting for it.

You're a sensitive kind of guy, I've always suspected that One needs a lot of emotion management for survivor polls. If you have bad luck, each round people will vote against your favorite track, and your second favorite track etc., and leave the track alone for which you are voting from round 1 'till the last round. Survivor polls indeed

Excellent album! but it has a couple of weak spots, the most obvious one being Onward.

Arriving UFO for me. I love Circus Of Heaven and can't understand why it is loathed so much.

Terribly sorry, old chap
Actually, I have grown to enjoy the track a little more in recent times. It's just that I think it's the weakest on what is, IMHO, a very good Yes album. I have a lot of affection for Tormato.

I love Arriving UFO as well although mainly because of White's drumming. Also Onward for me is a beautifull song. I do think though that Silent Wings Of Freedon is a bit overrated. Doesn't really go anywhere.

Release, Release for me.Interestingly I've always really liked Circus Of Heaven (it's really pretty, just ruined by Jon's silly kid :P) and Arriving U.F.O (it's obviously silly but Rick Wakeman kicks total ass on it). It's an underrated album, a failure more in production quality than composition. Only Release, Release feels really obviously crap to me. It's really obnoxious. |
I agree 100%--Circus of Heaven was a poem that Jon wrote to his three year old son that turned into a Yes song---it was a children's bedtime story and I think a cute one----after he read the story to his kid---thinking the kid was gonna think it was great--- he tape recorded the boy's actual response which I think is pretty endearing---the kid didn't like all the magical crap and was looking for lion's and tiger's and clowns or candy floss ---great Yes song?...not really but it's so real and self-depricating that I really like it. So stop picking on this song!!!! |
Is this for real? It's a very nice story, and knowing that the kid at the end was the genuine response of a child toward the description of such a magical circus at least makes me forgive the inclusion of that passage. I would really have liked to have heard/read Rick Wakeman telling that story... he has a way of making such things rather funny.

That's happened to me... more than once. Really annoying. I shouldn't keep on coming to this survivor polls... but I just can't help it.

I also agree... "Onward" is perhaps the best song on the album, for me. Also like the Keys to Ascension version much better; that acoustic guitar intro is beautiful.
