Here are the reactions I get when I listen to:
Yes: "This crap just goes on and on"
Rush: "Do they kick the singer in the balls before he goes onstage?"
Pink Floyd: "How can you stand this sad music?"
Dream Theater: "You realize they speed up the guitar solos with a machine, right?"
I could give you hundereds of more examples, but I won't.

Arguing on the internet is a lot like the special olympics - even if you win, you're still retarded.

I think "interesting" is a very good word to describe music with. I use it often, in a positive way, that is...

My mother almost called the police one day when she came home and heard
a friend and me out on the back deck tracking some music.
"I thought there was a satanic ritual going on behind our house!"

My old roommate kept fast-forwarding through "Shine On" because the lack of "action" was boring.
My ex-girlfriend (note "ex") **hated** King Crimson (played her a variety from ITCOTCK to Red to TPTB. Said it was garbage. She also couldn't stand Threshold's Subsurface, saying it just kept going on and on. In fact, if it wasn't pop radio friendly, she couldn't take anything at all. And I couldn't stand her!
Apart from that, I can relate to those who are told you listen to WEIRD music. Apparently "weird" being anything not on MTV....

dear prog' fans
if you think you had it rough, compare with me and my
uncle(the only two prog fan in my big family) you guys had it
easy.! believe!. i am from the dominican republic a
country that english is not the first or second language. you
could count with your fingers the people that heard of Pink
Floyd or the Beatles, just to name a few biggest rock acts. me
and my uncle had to hide when we listen to prog because we
were contantcly were made fun of becuase of these weird sh*t
(called by the them) music, called prog music. when me and my
uncle mate someone with the same taste in music it was like a
revelation from God to us instantly this person became our
friend and hang out buddy. that was in the early 80's so by the
90's me and my uncle we had a hang out spot to listen to prog
and exchange lp and non official cassette recorded with prog
music. the good old days!!! that was the only place that we
could listen to prog without been criticited. one day one of my
grand mother neighbour once told her that my and my uncle
were gay becuase we always had guys hang out in our room
and we turn off the lights and we were always playing this crazy
nonsense satanic music
that we were too weird and sh*t.
that what prog those to young people when they discover it
now it is 2005 and my and my uncle are crazier than ever we
had over 400 cds and lps. of prog, rock, jazz, fusion, new age,
we don't give a f**k of what other people think about our music
our world. we are as lucky as all those prog fan around the
world that apreciated these amazing incredible, in comparable
music made to last. forever. progressive music.
thanks guys!!!!!!!!

Is this an actual quote? Where is it from? Because this has to be one of the most ignorant and idiotic things I've heard someone say, not least when he does not know English even passably.
Lordy, I think he needs another phone call...

I shouldn't let it worry you. Teaflax is turning out to be the
grumpiest bastard I've ever seen on a forum (and I've seen A LOT) so
I'm beginning to find his little rants rather endearing.

Wow, _another_ phone call? Meaning you call him and read him the riot act when he says something you don't approve of?
Hope you never get my number...

I know. Some people's lectures get a little tiresome. I feel like we are all walking on eggshells, never expressing our REAL opinions for fear of insulting someones taste god forbid. The minute you say you dont like a band you get jumped.

|
It's "ironi". Which is not ironic since english comes mainly from old norse.
The ironic thing is that the scandinvian languages are actually quite broad and immense, but common english terms have become so integrated in the languages that people forget about our ancient, yet still valid old norse terms.

Yesterday, I lent my MP3 player to a friend and he put random tracks...
Reaction to ELP's Tarkus: "When are the vocals coming?" - He gets bored and changes randomly, to Gentle Giant's River....
First reaction to Gentle Giant's River: "This is odd"
Second Reaction to Gentle Giant's River: "Do you have something heavier?"
- He changes to something from Opeth
Final reaction: "Do you have any Jerry Rivera or salsa here?
Me: ................I wanna hear music... can you give it to me now? please?... thanks...
