Both are amazing in completely different ways. As a bass player myself, I am more inclined toward primus. each band has a completely different goal in their music, so it's apples and oranges really.

I think I would like Primus more if they ever decided to make something that actually counts as MUSIC. They're excellent musicians, so I'm sure they'd be able to do it if the fancy suited them. They haven't come to that yet, though.

no more primus bashing...and i think claypool writes some great songs, no matter how silly they are.
PS.i like claypool's vocals. =(

Wow, you guys are knocking Les' vocals. You know what? Les
is just telling stories in his songs. It's really about their
interaction and music. The vocals are optional, just why not put
some catchy as hell story lyrics in there? He's not trying to
relay serious messages with the music or be known as an excellent
vocalist. Sorry that Primus doesn't reach your qualifications to
be considered "serious good music", you know it's music, don't talk
crap if you don't like it. Why do you all have to knock bands you
don't listen to so hard, it's ignorant and you look stupid.
And how dare some of you say Primus "don't play music". Give me a
BREAK. Why is it not music? They're excellent players,
their songs are extremely groovy and their melodies and switches are
awesome in my opinion, and anything can be music, them having albums
alone as an ensemble that uses intruments alone is enough.
Also, where does it say in the Bull Board that "Primus hates The Mars
Volta", straight from Primus. I see nothing but a few fans
talking crap about The Mars Volta. As far as Mr. Bungle and
Primus, if they have any hatred towards eachother, it's because they're
constantly compared.

I know a kid who listens to TMV. He's an ass.
Primus is great. Les Claypool is wonderful.
I also enjoy Oysterhead and Frog Brigade.
