Opeth's album covers are black, compared to Dream Theater's wimpy colorful ones and lame brown. That is why Opeth is better than Dream Theater.

That was cryptic.
Opeth is on another level c/t DT in terms of creating art rather than instrumental mayhem. I certainly enjoy my doses of the latter but there's a difference between really good candy and a real good entree.

Opeth.
DT has been absolutely musically stagnant since Train of Thought, while Opeth has been tweaking their sound with every album, and each one sounds fresher than the one before. Plus, I just enjoy the tunes more, as they have a melodic story to tell, as compared to DT's w**kery.

No they are both good singers for me, Mikael can do the very low tones nicely while James can do the very high notes.

Opeth gets my vote. I like Dream Theater, but Labrie's voice just doesn't do it for me. Only like it on Images and Words and Octavarium.
Plus, even though he's sick, sometimes Petrucci just shreds way too much!

Dream Theater for me. My ears are a no growl zone, and Dream Theater has far less growls.
