let's just stay above the moral melee
prefer the sink to the gutter keep our sand-castle virtues content to be a doer as well as a thinker, prefer lifting our pen rather than un-sheath our sword |

I'd rather spend my money on music instead of drugs.

No..... proggers are like the opposite... >.> How could you expect to play insanely complicated music hopped up on dope? I don't know ANYONE who likes prog and does drugs. Sorry to say... <.< |
||||
How awesome. A place where I can talk about progressive rock and not hear "IS THIS ONE OF YOUR 50 HOUR LONG SONGS?!?!" I salute you. :D

Thats a pretty dumb statement, dope gives you alot of imagination, songs come out nicely and easily... and MANNNYYYY prog bands in the 60's-70's and even now took drugs... So. dont say stupid things like that |

It might do all that for you,but it really messes up your reflexes and reaction time. When I got high as a teenager I used to tape myself practicing drums and would play high and think I was doing great,then listen to it later on when I was straight and realized how much my playing was off. |

My dad used to be in a jazz band with a tromboneist that would play high and he, apparently, thought that he was at his creative peak and producing fantastic stuff when he was high when he was actually rather crap. |

Write while high, play while sober. That'sthe secret!!! I'm clean, but I'm 13, so it doesn't mean THAT much. Still, drugs are not part of my life-plan. That is, taking over the world. |

yea exactly. find your inspirations while high, and then create while sober... In profesionnal arts, and music, you'll be surprised knowing how much of the people do drugs. |

But if you are truly creative and imaginative you shouldn't need to get stoned to find inspiration. |

^ I completely agree... But ... it is clear that even a person like that taking drugs will have a even wider imagination... It is proved. on weed, you can see your imaginations so clearly, close your eyes and see imagery... same with music, same with drawing, it brings you to this creative section of your brain. I dont wanna sound pro-drugs, there are obviously bad sides to drugs. Just dont abuse and smoke when going to school or anything... but some one who consumes when he has time and nothing on his mind. well, actually I am convinced that he will widen his intelligence, by having new experiences. |

I think Daniel Gidenlow makes a great point on drugs in this interview (I'd paste it... but these forums don't let me =X)

You can cut and paste it: PA: What are your views on drugs? DG: If you have a small mind they seem to help you get access to the parts you have shut down. It’s like a shortcut to a visionary state that you can reach anyway if you just let go of your mental limitations put there after years and years in this world. If your mind is already large they will just help you shut down other parts of it. Let’s say they are a shortcut to a place to which you will never find a proper way if you use them. Usually, when a mediocre artist starts doing drugs, they will in fact produce one or two interesting albums, more open-minded than their previous work, then they will just turn sour and never do anything as good again. At least, that’s my impression. I don’t go near them. I have struggled through dense vegetation to find that place anyway, and that journey has done me good. |

Actually. yea, we can all access these altered mind states naturally... by meditation techniques, or transe states, etc... But, please is there a non-stoner here who does that? Theres those tibetan people... yea... But other than that... A PORTION of peopple who go in drugs are already super smart and wanna find out MORE about the universe... and what better way then ingesting a plant that can make you access that information... and what makes you say stoners dont meditate or anything once in a while to obtaint it naturally... Its more about the desire of someone to obtain such altered mind state. I completely disagree with "people with small minds use them." Its probably the wisest people who realize. hek drugs arent bad... what is the meaning of "bad" anyways on this planet. we dont even KNOW the damn meaning of life. why give ourselves limits...
