Yeah, but this was like a "once very blue moon" occurrence. I was just awed when I heard those birds and animals come chiming in - I honestly had a spiritual experience to say the least. ![]() |

Or he probably went for a soda! Got caught in traffic, and was requested to buy Patio Lanterns for his wife. ![]() |

Come on!!! Wow. I'd shop there all the time. That's pretty rare. Usually you get elevator music in the grocery store. |

Yesterday evening on a local music TV station, inside a "vintage" program including a lot of 80s poornesses they have passed a live performance of very young Jethro Tull playing Aqualung. Preceeded by Marvin Gaye and followed by New Romantics, just to give an idea.

I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution

It wasn't really musical... but I managed to pull the "Knowledge is a deadly friend if no one sets the rules" card in an argument today. Needless to say, it went well.

I consider drone metal to be progressive...

I've heard Focus' "Hocus Pocus" in a department store, Yes' "I've Seen All Good People" in a pizza place, Genesis' "Squonk" at the grocery store, Rush's "Freewill" at a gas station, and ELP's "Hoedown" at a sandwich shop. My dream of hearing prog in public has already come true, but I'm gonna wait as long as it takes just to hear"Supper's Ready" in the library or so.mething

Me and my buddies have intentionally played prog in sports bars/restaurants just to see the looks on most people's faces ESPECIALLY when we put a long one. On one occasion we put the odyssey and on another occasion we put a song from meshuggah and everyone's face was priceless. Of course the employees turned the volume down at some point.

Heard Tortoise's "Stretch (You Are All Right)" as one of the little connecting pieces of music on a local news radio station recently. Though brief, quite a pleasant surprise.

When it comes to music, very little is objective.

^ Actually, I find the very idea of using prog as background music a bit sickening. But what can I do?

Well, there was nothing playing over it--it was just meant to serve as a transition between points. But maybe that's what you meant. |

If you happen to be in our library right now, you're forced to listen to VDGG's Still Life for the next 15 minutes.

Fripp's "Soundscapes" music is quite ambient and progressive, but I find it limiting by itself. I saw Fripp appear onstage with Mike Keneally as the opening act for a G3 tour years ago, and Keneally RIPPED on lead guitar over Fripp's live Soundscapes!! Gawd it was amazing!!
