Not a place where a public usually hangs out in, but certainly a place the public uses - an oil drum.
Found this: ![]() ... in an oil drum with paper and plastic filters and old grease. How prog is that? ![]() Here is more: Bill Bruford's potential rival. Edited by Dayvenkirq - June 26 2012 at 13:10 |

I did not know this, but Gavin Harrison and Neil Peart were at Letterman's show. ... At Letterman's show.

One year, during homecoming dinner in high school, someone played "Moving Pictures" in its entirety over the speakers in Undos. This was before Rush was fashionable like they are now.

Was just watching Venture Bros and the episode "Past Tense" heavily features Gong's "You" album cover above the bed and a "Yea" poster done in Yes's logo!!

Pretty much the same thing happened to me. Maybe a year or so ago I heard "Sylvia" by Focus in the grocery store(the one I was in is called Giant). Maybe the same company pumps the same music into all of these grocery stores. Who knows?
![]() I have worked with people in the past who have known about "Gong,""PFM", "Camel" and King Crimson. Not the same people though. Edited by Prog_Traveller - July 22 2012 at 21:07 |

Closest thing to prog that I've heard in public places is The Show Must Go On by Queen about 3 months ago in a store.

I've heard I've Seen All Good People in a number of places. Seems to be a popular unpopular one, haha.
The most surprising public prog I've heard was at a free community concert at a park in Washington D.C. exactly a week ago (7/16). Apparently they have these free concerts at this park every Monday in the summertime. This ~50 year old couple (man on guitar, woman on keyboards. Also just assuming they're a couple) called themselves Cigarbox Planetarium (also have a Facebook page, I've found) and played a few minutes from The Gates of Delirium by Yes. They did that part right before the part of the song the call "Soon". For those listening at home, that's about 13:00 - 15:00. It was a really badass rendition. Very relaxed and free feeling because they didn't have percussion or bass, they could just work in very rubato time. |

Well, apparently Mike Oldfield played Tubular Bells at the opening ceremony of the Olympic games. I mean, that's in front of millions, maybe even billions of home viewers and thousands within the stadium. Those people in the stadium were definitely in for a treat.

Once I was in a bar and the owner put into the speakers a cd/tape with some Tull, Le Orme and PFM. Unfortunatly that was an isolated case.
