It is the symbol of Sicily. I love that island from the beautiful surroundings of the Etna to the Cappuchin Catacombs of Palermo, the archeological site of Agrigento and the ancient eagle's nest of Erice.
The cat on the avatar is my own cat; the pic was taken when he was about 5 months old.

You may be right about the stylistic discrepancy between the avatar and the sig.
Anyway, I round the rating of the avatar up to 3 (the wombat was 4-, the beaver 4.5); the sig I rated 4 before.
