Thanks for the consolation Steve - I too am fairly certain that it isn’t the virus...but yeah this morning it felt so strange with the incessant puking and what I deemed was a slight fever - on top of everything that’s been going on with this infernal virus..so my first thought was naturally that I’d contracted the Toyota corolla...even after all my precautions ie having stopped the whole French kissing thing (which I DO miss enormously)
I feel like a shower and some folky music would do me good. Cheers Steve - take care buddy
Edith: that, Ladies and gents, was the ol’ two Steves with one stone
Hope you make a full recovery soon David. Here's something a touch folky to help you along:
Certainly made me feel better, anyway. From one of my favourite albums of all time.
Nice!
Hope you feel better Dave, perhaps a bouquet of the times are in order

I started out puking my guts out at around 3:30 this morning. Felt like I was part of this unholy rollercoaster. Also brilliant timing as today is the only day I was scheduled to work for two weeks Anyway I am currently in 48 hours apartment quarantine even if my doc says that the puking doesn’t necessarily mean corona virus..but better safe than sorry. Truth be told I am fairly certain it is the pinched nerve in my left side making trouble yet again. There were no sounds this morning but right this minute it sounds as if someone or something opened up a big flask of sparkling water inside of me...and I have come to know that sensation well by now. Always seems to wreck havock on my balance and general nervous system..and then something releases and I feel much better. I’m counting on this being a somewhat strong take on that
Ughh David!! Feel better soon, seriously doubt it's "The Fever", or a Toyota Corolla in your gut (God I spewed my pants when I read that, thank you for that!!)
At least you are home, turn on the Shiit and sit back and listen with some of your cans....possibly while sitting on the can, dang bro!

Can anyone enlighten me concerning the stink about Trump and others calling the Coronavirus a Chinese virus? To my mind it’s a perfectly apt description, considering that China is its point of origin (combined with appalling hygiene standards of food consumption). Nothing racist about it.
And another thing, how exactly do you eat bat soup? I mean, do you use chopsticks? And if so, do you just skewer the bat with one of them and then suck or nibble on it like a lolly pop? Or do you chop it up and fish out the chunks? It baffles me.

Unless you are trying to start a war, you clearly know what everyone will say. I think he is saying that because China was/is trying to blame the US for the virus, so he is lashing back. I believe it was the NYT paper that posted an article calling it either China virus or Wuhan flu or something like that, we all know that is where it started, so why the need to say it like that.
I suspect many people have opinions on China and how/why it started there.

However, what makes me feel a little bit better is the fact that it quite clearly is not the modern equivalent of bubonic plague.
Steve, you make me nostalgic for my days of commuting from Chicago to Heathrow and then to Exeter! I quite miss your trains and the underground!

Fascinating article, Charles, which provides some interesting historical perspective.
The trains and Underground are a nightmare in Britain at the moment. Certainly, with the trains, there has been decades of underinvestment, which is telling now.

Simon, Jim and José: thanks guys. I can safely say that I feel twice as good today as I did yesterday..but then again I’ve been sleeping a lot Never actually heard anything from the Bevis Frond before if you can believe that Simon...but it is a band I’ve come across before in name. I really genuinely enjoyed that tune and it was somehow very befitting after a big Cinderella nap Jim you had me laughing out loud with your belated Christmas present I’m alright though - I have always used the three seashells instead
..and don’t you worry José, the first thing I did this morning was to turn on my little Schiit Heresy - plug in the HE500 and put on quite an energetic album for this time of day, Vespero’s Shum-Shir, but it was what I felt like with the sunshine swimming in through my windows. Some times I do wish I could pop them on other folk’s heads I often meet youngins on the bus with their Bose/Beats/earpods/Marshall on..and when they happen to be wearing Floyd shirts or maybe even a Dire Straits one..well I can’t help myself and often end up talking with the dude. Anyhoo when I then point towards the earpods and ask if he owns speakers at home, he will most likely say yes and talk about his computer monitors, which he only really uses for gaming. Music though is always over the earpods. Right there I want to attack his cabeza with my Hifimans ...which is the sort of borderline elitist snob mentality that I truly hate about the hobby....but still I can’t help it when I see youngins throwing money at popularity items, when they could get something far superior at half the cost. Wow....sorry for completely sidetracking this very serious thread. I fell under the spell of what I’m currently wearing...no not the thong (again)
On a more serious note: How the blue feck am I going to make any sort of meaningful meal out of what I currently have in the fridge??? Arghh!!! Well I guess I’ll be cooking something with mustard, home-made harissa, an onion, garlic and peach ice tea

Even as a far left Trump bashing liberal, I agree with Trump calling the pandemic the Chinese Virus. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

Meanwhile, I have come down with a cold, the good old common variety. Probably not the best time to do so
Given the atmosphere at the moment, I will stay indoors for a couple of days until it clears.
Probably a wise decision I bought some common over the counter pain killers here the other day and had a few people looking at me with terrified faces. The time it would have taken me to explain that they indeed were for my back would have been annulled mid-conversation, because common reason seems to have been overtaken by irrational thought. You can’t rationalise with people who have lost the power to use their ears. I know that from work. Kids who are fearful or angry can’t hear anything other than the noise inside their heads. Normal grown up folks though tend to react in much the same manner when confronted with things they don’t fully understand.
Anyway as long as you have your bogrolls in order and an understanding missus I think you’ll do just fine. Either way best wishes from Denmark

The madness of crowds really isn't something new. This photo shows a woman wearing a gas mask and pushing a gas proof baby stroller at an unknown location in 1938.

There’s a nice calm feeling here as well with the soft and sunlit weather doing it’s magic. I am still in quarantine but can see several folks in shades and smiles strolling down the street. I’m listening to Kula Shaker’s Peasant, Pigs & Astronauts and generally digging the vibes

Btw, and completely unrelated, do you know Perfect Beings? Earlier on I recommended their album Vier in another thread for someone looking for uplifting music. Tbh any of their albums puts a smile on my face. Sorta like Yes meets XTC if you can dig such a combination

I have thought people hoarding toilet paper is kind of funny, but today in the Finnish radio they said US people is hoarding guns. If that´s really true, it sounds really weird, are those people thinking they need more guns to defend all the things they´ve hoarded? Or are they afraid of some kind of COVID-beasts (from the horror movies)?
All the best to you David in your quarantine!! I am still working, although there is also that special situation (limitations in social life) in Finland.

That's a good combination to me, listening now and it's good! You've probably checked out Johannes Luley but his album Qitara is really good as well.

I saw that yesterday on the news. I guess if anyone coughs near them they're just going to shoot them.
