I work in a supermarket- depends on which channel the employee in charge chooses to play- there's actually quite a broad selection of stations. Have heard "In the Court of the Crimson King"  "Take a Pepple" Fanfare" "Wish You Were Here"- all in regular rotation. There's nothing these people won't stoop to in order to sell goods- even good tatste.

I wandered into one of the few retail stores left having decided I wanted to hear Custard Pie and got Heartbreaker instead.

No complaints.

Once while living in the UK I was wanderiing (I do this a bit) to my local used music emporium. I saw a tramp "crashed out living every chance" (Roy Harper). One of Those Days In England started up in the cerebral vortex. In the above mentioned emporium happened to be that very album just after the first track. Bullinamingvase - Roy Harper and an absolutely magical album too... (never mind humble sodding opinions!) Wink Amazing coincidence.

I now cycle past some shop that does nothing but broadcast (no other word for it) Hendrix all the time...

No complaints.

I was thinking a while back - two days in fact- that with iPods etc that one desn't get to hear stereos blasting PF and LZ etc . It's all kept private now. This may be a bit of a shame.

(There's always some complaints).Tongue

This might not count at all, but there's a kid in my school that looks almost like Bill Bruford. I never really noticed it till this year. I'm not really friends with him, though.

Martin Scorsese's The Departed features a Van Morrison cover of PF's Comfortably Numb, in the love scene with DiCaprio and the psychologist.

A musician-actor in a play played a bit of Octavarium on the guitar. I was the only one in the place who knew what he was playing =|

This has probably already been said multiple times, but if prog appears in public, it's unexpected.

Was inside a shirt store, the attendant played Tom Sawyer over the boutique's sound system, looked at him, and gave him the horns up.

Did he

a) run away?
or b) end the evening naked on your couch?

I can't think of a third possibility.

How about a 17 year old bassist and a guitarist 2 years younger playing Dream Theater and Liquid Tension Experiment tunes to a MIDI backing track in the break of a local singer-talent show ages 3-10...? :P

I know Jason Segel and Paul Rudd's characters did a bunch of Rush songs ('Working Man' prominently featured) in "I Love You, Man".

Not a song, but Barney Stinson (Neil Patrick Harris) on the tv show How I Met Your Mother seems to think he's going to get Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins to re-form Genesis.

Could you tell me which season and episode it is? 'Cause I couldn't find it on YouTube.

It was the most recent episode, "Now We're Even".
