I need to ask Patrick something...

Rico loves Elixirs, do you think he'll therefore dislike both Five Suns and Black Oni?

Really? That's another thing I'll have to do right after my TDM.

I think you and/or James should check 1 of these albums out and see what you think. It's like Trondheim kinda, only spacier. It's definitely way different from any of Tangerine Dream's other stuff, though I can see how they went into Phaedra from this.

Why would that mean he would dislike FS and BO?

It is day out, you know. Wink

Probably.  Black Oni doesn't seem like a very Rico album.  Then again, people can surprise you...

Because I know Rico's tastes.  Five Suns and Black Oni are quite a lot different to Elixirs in many respects.  He doesn't like metal.  Although neither album are metal, they are quite noisy and forceful on the old ears.  I think he'll be rather shocked.

Not sure which of the first 4 would attract you the most though. Electronic Meditation is the debut, and that one's almost kinda Krautrock-experimentalish. Alpha Centauri gets more spacey, and Zeit is easily the most minimalistic. Atem is kinda like Zeit Part 2 but pushing the sound further into electronics, which then leads into Phaedra.

Their evolution is actually quite amazing to hear, and it makes perfect sense.

I think you'd like all Guapo, but this one seems really up your alley.

I'm enjoying this a bit more myself.

Oh, okay. That's understandable then. Guapo is like, absolutely on the top of my list. Then it's ADII.

No. Angry

All their albums up until 1980 are absolutely amazing. Even after that, there are some pretty good ones. They're definitely all different eras though, and I'm sure certain people would like certain eras more than others. As of now... I personally can't choose. We'll see how I feel once this is over.

No, check out Five Suns first.

Five Suns, Black Oni and Elixirs are a triptych.  It makes sense to play them in order.

Yep.  It's like classic Guapo.  A mix of the sound from Five Suns and Black Oni mixed together.
