I have all the Todd albums you've listed so far. Any thoughts?

Before: and Their three previous albums are great, but this one I still, after several listenings, can't get into, and this has stopped me from exploring UH further. I enjoy parts of "Rain" and the title track, but the rest is forgettable stuff, IMO. Quite the disappointment! Now:

I have his 2-disc Anthology which I have listened to a number of times, so I was familiar with some of the songs, and probably not surprisingly, those songs stood out more for me on the first listen, just because of that familiarity. The one thing that I like about him best is that he is very eclectic. He seems to really try to do something different from album to album and even from song to song. Now listening: The first song, Real Man, is one of my favorites from his Anthology. So far I am really enjoying this one.

1st listen of this album, although I am familiar with a number of the songs from the Anthology. Also, my first time using Grooveshark since I don't own this one and it wasn't on Spotify.

True, he does. I think "Something/Anything" was the first album I got by him, and it was quite cool how it was almost structured like 4 different mini-albums - each side of the record showing a different side of Todd. Side One was pure pop, Side Two was more prog, Side Three was heavy rock, and Side Four was live singalong stuff. The album "Todd" had a similar mix of these styles, but juxtaposed them against each other (often back to back), and maybe put a little more emphasis on the weird/prog side.
Cool that you're listening to Initiation too. I might throw that on today myself. Probably the only LP I have where there's 36 minutes of music crammed onto a single side!

I am pretty sure that I mentioned it before, but he is the first musician that I ever met. And the funny part was that I was going to his concert with a co-worker who was a huge fan, but I didn't really know that much about him aside from Bang on the Drums All Day and I Saw The Light.

Wow... no, I don't recall you saying that, but that's quite cool. He'd be an interesting guy to meet I think.
Anyway, I put on Initiation and remembered why I don't listen to it that much. It's a great album, but I think I really need to get the CD. The sound quality on the vinyl really suffers from having over 30 minutes per side. I had to turn it way up, and even then it just did POP like I wanted it to.
So instead, I'm putting on Chicago X.

It wasn't really a big thing but we were walking to the show from our car and just happened to pass his tour bus as he got off of it. My co-worker was pretty thrilled since he was a huge fan. I got to shake his hand and we exchanged some small talk but that was really about it. Although, I guess it still counts as something since I still remember it all these years later. I suspect that on the other hand, Todd doesn't remember that encounter at all.

Back to Spotify for another first listen, although this one has Hideaway and Bang The Drum All Day, which are two of my favorites from Todd.
