Announcing Pre-Ordering For Glass Hammer’s
2009 release: “Three Cheers For The Broken-Hearted”. World-wide release is November
3rd, but order now for an autographed copy by Fred, Steve and
Susie. Album Description: 2009’s release “Three
Cheers For The Broken-Hearted” reveals a leaner, tighter Glass Hammer; with
Steve Babb and Fred Schendel once more handling nearly all of the
instrumentation and one hundred percent of the writing and production.
Still, Glass Hammer alum Susie Bogdanowicz finds herself squarely in the
spotlight as the solo-vocalist on seven of the album’s eleven tracks.
From song to song, the
dynamics are clear and present. “Three Cheers For The Broken-Hearted” features
melancholy ballads, psychedelic influenced rockers and even head-banging metal
tracks; all firmly based on the band’s prog-rock roots. While not a concept
album in the traditional sense, the new album’s lyrics still carry a theme
throughout. The new release shows the more cynical, darker side of Glass Hammer
– a band usually noted for its optimism. “It’s still there,” says GH co-founder Steve Babb. “But only revealed in places; certainly harder to find than in lyrics from earlier albums. But while this album has given us a needed break from the out-right storytelling we usually attempt, when taken as a whole, ‘Three Cheers’ starts in a pretty dark place, then gradually leads you back home again. Even without the time-honored concept, our fans will definitely still find themselves on a journey.” |

Hmmm it seems that the "The Inconsolable Secret" days are definetly gone, as it began showing on the last studio album...
The modernised, ambient andhard-edged Glass Hammer isn´t anymore the band I once became a fan... |

Same here, after 9 albums which I owned ,seems that "Culture Of Ascent" was the swan song for me.

I guess I would like to know the reasoning that you two are writing them off just like that. I like the long songs as well but will keep an open mind at least until I read some reviews.

I just pre-ordered. I'm looking forward to this album. I still need to acquire a lot of their back catalogue as well, but I like what I have heard from them. |

I saw Glass Hammer perform at 3RP 2009 and they played some songs from this album - the new songs were TERRIBLE! I think people's fears may be legitimate; Glass Hammer may have officially jumped the shark.

this album seems to me to meet the progmetalheads. Twist that does not follow the same line of "The Lure of Dreams", which is difficult, Basque hear the previous album ...

Well, since I wrote nearly 3/4's of the material on the new album - I can tell you I've only ever heard 2 Porcupine Tree songs in my life. I loved them - but I'm certainly not hoping to be PT 2. The inspirations for the music on Three Cheers is pretty obscure. Perhaps I misunderstood? Steve |

Great album. I also got to see these wonderful folks at 3RP. Great show, but then I've been a fan since "On To Evermore".
Super nice folks as well. Cheers to you, Steve, and congrats on the new album. I hope we will perform on the same bill in thee future. cheers Phideaux Xavier I |
