French prog band featuring two former members of Ange...

Their first album should be released in March 2008...

Gens de la Lune is an interesting band.  Their sound can be pretty different than anything else that comes to mind, which is mostly due to the madman vocalist (see song Le Guide on the myspace).  The songs don't contain too much complexity, which is of course not a requirement.  Their sound does vary through, it's a nice listen.

On their main website I see what I consider "hints" to an actual album, but I am unable to understand the language (makes me wish I was multilingual).  If anyone could confirm/prove me wrong about an album, that'd be great.

The album will be released on March 15th (French is not my best language, but at least I can read most of it).

Not sure about the style based on the (certainly interesting) samples. I'll move them to Suggest pending the album release - with "Former Ange members" added to the thread title.

To genre team members: please indicate if and where this would fit - I hear some folk influences, but also some symphonic and ethnic influences.

Interesting music. Standby to find out if it's heading for Symphonic, Eclectic or Crossover. It's, anyway, discussed for inclusion.

I've patched this band to Xover, I wanna hear their opinion.

(In fact, I've patched it quite a while ago...)

So far, Eclectic hasn't made a decisive vote on them, an opinion from Xover is just desired...

hahahha...  goes along with trying to judge a band.. based on samples of samples.   Those myspace tracks sound like demos...  when we first eval'd it I recommended waiting till someone was able to get ahold of a full album.

That allowance may remain a wet dream even after 9 months, Micky, but is there anyone who has taken the time to evaluate this band?

The Eclectic team evaluated it and rejected it.

A plain reject, or a move? Not pushing - just making sure.

Rejected for Eclectic by Moris and myself, but Rico was discussing it with Xover, and of course they looked into it too.  Listening again to refresh my memory (more tracks now I think?), I think it worthy of the archives.  It generally sounds more progressive and better than I remembered.  Very enjoyable mostly.  Nice folk elements.  Hopefully some more people will chime in on the music.  I'd think Xover might be good for it, but, of course, it's that team's call.

Sounds like Symphonic to me. Four out of six of their tracks on MySpace would not be out of place on a 70's Ange album.

I quite like what I've heard, even though I do believe going for the Ange sound might be a risk, especially since Suzan is no Christian Decamps.
Bigger on the inside.

Not sure, even when leaning towards Symphonic.

Need more time.
