What album do you love that everyone else passionately loathes? Are you a huge 90125 fan? Are you a die-hard Styx fan? Tell all.

I absolutely adore Floyd's The Final Cut.

I like the Grand Illusion.  I crank Come Sail Away when it comes on the  radio.  I like Cat Stevens.  Al Stewart.  I'll stop before I dig any deeper.  Geek

By the way, I share your fondness for Final Cut.

I'm not a fan of Tormato, as a whole, but I absolutely love Future Times / Rejoice. That song just cheers me up every time I hear it.
Prog... It's good.

hey you stole mineEmbarrassed...yep...big Styx fan I am, or used to be and Cat Stevens too.  There actually isn't much to be embarassed by with Styx; they made some very good hard rock in their prime (before CornerstoneDeadyuck).  Grand Illision is a fine album, as is Styx II.

hmmm...I really like Simon and Garfunkel. I'm sure there's plenty around here who like them but also plenty who loathe them.  Bridge Over Troubled Water is a lovely tune.

Not sure if everyone else loathes it but I really like Genesis "we can't dance"  has some really strong bits in it like "Fading Lights" and "Driving The Last Spike"  I never really understood why it gets so many 1 star responses

Also Kansas "Drastic Measures" its so unlike Kansas in style but I still enjoy it on some level  infact  "Mainstream"  and a few Kerry wrote on it  are damn good songs..  but I know most people don't like this Kansas CD much  Smile

good thread btw

I don't really have guilty pleasures in prog- I like Styx's 'Equinox', 'Crystal Ball', 'The Grand Illusion' and 'Pieces Of Eight', I think they are solid heavy rock albums with a prog touch. Don't ever want to hear anything recorded after those albums ever again, though!!

I like every Genesis album in some way (although I think 'Abacab' and 'Calling All Stations' have a lot of poor material), and I like Yes' '90125', 'Talk' and 'The Ladder'. 'Big Generator', ABWH and 'Keys To Ascension' have some decent material. I like Asia's debut and most of the Payne era ones.

If I did believe in guilty pleasures, though, it wouldn't be anything related to prog- there are some AOR tunes I like. Having said that, though, I recently got (and got shot of almost immediately) a few Toto albums and found them quite hideous!! There really is only a handful of songs I like by them, Foreigner and Boston. Journey I'm a bit more sympathetic to than those other AOR bands. Like Styx, I think they were a pretty solid rock band (before 'Raised On Radio', which I thought was airbrushed adult contemporary of the worst kind) that got tarred with the brush of being soppy balladeers. And in any case, I find most of Journey's ballads to be infinitely preferable to Styx's...
