Worst car

I managed to pass my driving test 48 days before my 40th birthday. Since then i've had 3 cars, a Seat (great accelertion and reliability) , a Daewoo (typical cheapo eastern motor) and a Fiat .

Daewoo are a joke car company... or I always thought they were.  I think they use Vauxhall or VW parts.

Fiat's are indeed terrible, from what I've seen of them.

My father had a Ford Escord Lightning once (a work car, he wouldn't ever buy a Ford) and it was bloody awful!  The spoiler on the back made the car drive appallingly, it caused a lot of drag.  Plus the chassis was very low, so everytime he went over traffic calming bumps, the bottom of the car scraped on the tarmac.  Plus it accelerated like sh*t off a shovel.

I've only ever had the one car, A Vauxhall Astra and I've never had any major problems with it.

What's the colour of Ford Ka's got to do with it?  I thought they were all terrible, no matter what colour!

Someone I knew had this very awful car that made me feel very unsafe, because it felt top-heavy.  Everytime he went round a corner, I thought the car was going to tip over.  I forget what car it was now.  A little thing from the 1990s or earlier.

I also took to driving quite late in life (It was the words "I'm pregnant" that finally galvanised me in action - for a lot people this is the cue to get married, for me it was the cue to learning to drive), so I've only ever owned three cars, and two of those were more or less the same model (except one had a bigger engine and sports suspension).

Huh.  That was my first car and I loved it.  Of course, that was in 1995.

A guess, eastern European cars weren't really appreciated here in the UK.

Austin/MG Mini Metro (Mark 1) 1980-1984, nice cars to look at but really unreliable:

Faults included:

Flat battery,
Puncture,
Window falling into door,
Interior falling into bits,
Wiper stopped working on Driver's side,
Stiff Gearbox in 2nd gear,
Screaming Fan Belt,
Ran out of Petrol on top of a hill in a middle of nowhere,
Broken Speedometer,
Light bulbs stopped working on dash board, the orange light was always the worst culprit,
Headlights flashing for no reason, Indicator light does not flash, just stays on still,
Wheel bearing fell off the car when it was moving,
Broken front seat drawer,
Stereo had faults,
Wiper stopped working on Driver's side,
Didn't always Start up.
Heater didn't work.
Handbrake cable snapped.
Door handle broke in your hand,
Key snapped in the lock.

I have seen all these faults on 4 different Metro's, not every one but each car had some of the above faults.

BTW a 998cc engine, I swear to god, when I was sitting in the back of the Metro on the dual carriageway to Pembroke the Metro managed 100MPH in a small engine, I couldn't believe a Metro was capable of that in 4th gear.

It certainly didn't feel that quick.

Nowadays, BMW
They even got beat by Kia in safety.
I use my brother's '01 Nissan Sentra over 190,000 miles and still running smoothly.

My grandfather's Ford Sierra broke down in Swansea, Wales around 1989 or so, I remember coming home in a van.

Especially after reading this:

24-year-old Leslie Pluhar's Zastava Yugo was blown completely off the Mackinac Bridge in Michigan during a strong wind. High speed was to blame^[15]
