Hi friends,
This Norwegian artist (but she now lives in London I think) has made an excellent album (Melankton). I like her voice, the electornic arrangements which feature true strings. But I don't know in which sub-genre she can be placed. If she is prog or not either. At least I think it's good music. This is my favourite: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xd4EE-0yLu Other samples here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sKvuWyZg1Pc (this sounds a little Bjork-ish, maybe) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynOhveYERIM&feature=related (This is not on Melankton and I'm listening to it for the first time....) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qRrPdDUqI78&feature=related (It seems that Klaus Schulze is hiding somewhere) |

I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution

I loooove Melankton and actually I had also thought about her possible addition...though I don't really consider her as a prog rock artist.
Anyway I invite the experts checking her music!

Nice and artsy pop music, not rock and not prog IMO.

I agree. As I wrote starting this post, I'm not sure she can be defined progressive. The most interesting element is the mix of electronic and strings and the thin and cold athmosphere. More than pop, I think she's closer to newage. However I'm happy to have introduced her even if not suitable for inclusion. |
