Mew... Prog?? Don't think so, to me they're just an Indie Rock band, some Post-rock influence, but definitely not proggy enough.

Blimey, I missed that. I've never heard Mew but The Sun reckon "Genesis and Pink Floyd are cool again".

I still think that if I came home with the Sun and said "I bought it today because there's an article about prog" I would be met with "yeah right like you asked to buy Penthouse because there was an article about Aston Martin in it"

This has probably made me chuckle the most out of any comment on Prog Archives. Congrats.

The Metro had a similar article. I think the band must be being promoted as "prog".

Mew is Sigur Ros writing grungy pop songs. Cool stuff, twisted melodies, not very complex but they can have a full grandiose sound. I have heard their last two albums and they're both recommended.

Interesting band, but they are prog-related at best... probably not even that.

Even the Guardian had something similar in there gig guide recently.

They mentioned MEW (who sound like a band who was well into the Cocteau Twins or Modern English to me) and another band called Pure Reason Revolution who I have heard even less by but what I have heard is a track called The Bright Ambassadors of Morning (yes, it's taken from Pink Floyds -  Echo's) they didn't sound too bad.

You can find out more about PRR here http://www.purereasonrevolution.com/05/site.php
I'm sure this where I downloaded the above track but I'll be f*cked if I can find it there now.
there site is sooooooooo crap
